Droid x freeze and reboot

My stock X freezes and then reboots every time I try to reply to a text. This has happened since the last update (2-3 weeks.) I emptied the cache, did a battery pull, have no task killer and have not added any new apps as of late.

Is anyone else having this problem and what should I do?

email quit syncing

Last night, my email accounts (gmail - which i had added to have it show under universal mailbox and yahoo) quit syncing. The only account that seemed to be syncing normally was the gmail through the gmail account widget. It had been working fine, but stopped suddenly. No notifications happened and the mailbox never updated. Even when I opened the account it looked like it was trying to sync, but nothing ever happened. Please help!

Do you use the power control widget? If so, make sure the second symbol from the right (two arrows going in a circle) has a green line under it.

no, i don't use that widget. finally, i powered the phone off and then back on again. that seemed to do the trick. i read on another site that clearing the cache helps, too, but where would i do that? i've only had this phone for a couple of weeks - still trying to figure out where everything is.

From your homescreen, press menu, settings, applications, then click the ALL tab at the top. Give the phone a minute to create the list to make things easier on yourself, then scroll down until you find email. It was pretty far down the list on my phone. On mine, I only had the option to clear data, not cache, but I only recently set up an account using that app.

I highly recommend using the gmail app for your gmail account though. It's a lot better than the email app. You can also setup your gmail account to retrieve your yahoo email and you can select which address (gmail or yahoo) that you'd like to send any new or reply message from.

thank for your help. i tried having my yahoo fwd over to gmail, but i found out that the free version of yahoo doesn't support mail forwarding through POP. you have to upgrade to the paid $20 a year premium yahoo, which is something i'm not willing to do. but that was a great suggestion. i didn't even know i could forward other emails into my gmail.

You're welcome! Can't say I blame you for not wanting to pay for that. That sucks! Haha! I still recommend using the gmail app for your gmail account.

gmail help on droid x

okay, yet another question regarding email. i have a second gmail account that forwards to my main gmail account. on the desktop version of gmail, i have it set that the reply from address will match the sent to address. so if i reply to a message that came from the secondary gmail account, it uses that as the reply from account automatically. if i'm replying to something set to my main gmail acount, i automatically uses that reply from address. but on the droid x, all replies are being sent from my main gmail account. i tried adding the secondary gmail account to see if that helped, but all i can do is choose to go to that account completely, which doesn't help because i have it set for any mail forwarded to my main account is then deleted from that secondary account. is there anyway to fix this and make it match my desktop gmail? or at least be able to manually change the reply from to the appropriate gmail account.

You can select the from address manually. That's the only.way I know to do it.

When composing a reply or a new email, your main gmail address is at the top of the window, in a dark grey box that should have an arrow on the right. Click that and your other email address should appear in a drop-down list. This is assuming you have it setup the way I have my old aol setup in gmail on the computer.

Apparently, it only works on the desktop version of gmail according to another forum that i found. The drop down change menu is only if you add the accounts to the email button rather than using gmail button. i will have to switch over to that other gmail account on my phone when i want to reply using that email address. i had to switch my desktop settings so that the secondary accounts are no longer deleted upon forwarding to the primary gmail. the other forum using the k9 app for email to accomplish what i am looking to do, but i don't want to add another email app.

Did you set the second account to forward to the first, or did you set the first to check the second one and pull the email in?

If you set the first to pull the second in and use the gmail app instead of the email app, you can select which address to send from each time you compose a message.

I have the secondary account going into the main one. I see the drop down box to change the from address if i use compose. But if I use reply, it defaults to the main one and i can't change it. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to follow my desktop gmail settings when it comes to this either, because I have that set to reply from the original sent to address. Annoying!

You should have the option if you go into your first account and set it up to fetch the mail from the other account using POP3. Disable the forwarding from the second account.
