HDMI cable issue

I've tried to watch videos that I have recorded using the camcorder on the DroidX on my TV. When I hit the HDMI icon, it tells me that the HDMI cable is not connected even though it is plugged into the phone and TV. Any ideas?

I have this problem with an HDMI monitor, although it doesn't happen with my TV. It has to detect a live HDMI connection. On the monitor, I have to just cycle the source button till it connects. Then it works fine. It's kind of a tricky timing issue trying to get the phone and the monitor to seek each other at the same time. But play with it, it will work.
