[Home Replacement App] Sweeter Home public Beta is out!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!
Just got around to playing with this. Got to say it looks AWESOME. Is really responsive and given the few themes I've d/l it looks like the possibilities to customize are endless. Can't wait to build my own template after I get the hang of it (but it is a bit.... confusing/overwhelming at first).

Is it just me or do the apps scroll pretty laggily?
I've tried 3 or 4 themes already and the app scrolling don't seem to lag at all for me. Seems very fast and responsive so far. Looks great.

Does anyone know if the developers are working with 2.1 yet? I would be a shame to get into this only to loose everything in a few weeks when 2.1 goes OTA.
Just as an update, I've used if for a full day now and there were some quirks that annoyed me. Firstly, the Red eye loop happened to me ironically right after reading about someone else getting it haha, but it was easily fixed by doing a battery pull and rebooting. I had to make some calls today for quick emergency and for some reason the Phone app was acting really laggy/unstable. I don't know if it was sweeter home's fault or the fact i have so many widgets. But after it FC it seemed to work fine lol. Also some of my widgets are not updating!!! Beautiful Home's time gets stuck, and my Pure messenger twitter widgets doesn't auto update.

As far as regular use stability it pretty solid, I'd say my experience with it has been a lot more stable than Home++ and GDE. With both I'd get lag and a lot of FC when trying to go back "home". With SH2 going "home" is a bit laggy but definitely not an excruciating as the Home++ and GDE.

I tested my battery out today also. Regularly with moderate-light (texting, autoupdate of widget every few hours, no calls, and no GPS) I can get 12-15 hours with 40%-30% battery left. Today I got 17hours of moderate-heavy usage (about 2 hours of GPS using the navigator, a few short quick calls, checking news, auto updates with widgets) until it completely crapped out on me. So all in all not bad at all, Lasted me a day's worth without sacrificing any of my phones functionality. So the real culprits for battery drainage was probably the calls I made and GPS, other than that Sweeter home shouldn't really affect battery life.

As far as CPU usage, I did notice that under battery use it was up there in the list, I think it was 9% but went down to 3% after some time passed without using the phone. I think it just has to do when your actively using the phone. Under CPU usage in the Spare Parts app it was also up there in CPU use, total time of CPU use is a whopping 3 mins lol. But from my partial awake usage stats it wasn't even included in the list, so this means it wasn't working when my phone was on standby. Strangely enough facebook was, and I don't even have it set to auto-update :\

So, even though the CPU usage was a little bit higher it didn't really seem to affect my daily usage/battery life very much. Definitely worth a look for people worried about performance decreasing. The only thing that is really annoying me right now is my widgets getting "stuck" and sometimes not even showing up.

Here's what I'm building so far. It's all on one screen. Really with this app there's almost no reason to use more than one. Graphically, it's pretty basic. At some point I'd like to replace the button blocks with actual graphics. If someone wants to see the other screens let me know and I'll post them.

I want to hear any comments/ criticisms you guys have. The functionality has been my main focus, not making it pretty. Still, I don't think it looks that bad.
Looks pretty good so far! If Functionality is what your working on then I think it does the job!

Aww sorry to hear it, I haven't had anything that major yet *knock on wood*. I do agree it still needs some stability.

Thanks mans appreciate it, I'm getting excited at all the theming possibilities. I think it's great for people that don't know how to make custom Roms and stuff and just want their homescreens to look a little more to their liking.

Wow that does suck:mad:... Sorry to hear. I'm liking it so far but I would like more stability. Particularly for me I'm hesitating because of the 2.1 update around the corner. Doesn't make sense to me to put a lot of time in it if it either a) won't be stable on 2.1 or b) isn't needed (depending on what is done to the 2.1 Home).

Hey guys I'm making another theme again, this dedicated to my favorite Droid site!! lol What do you think? It's just a mock-up of what the default screen will look like. This one is probably only going to be 3 screens in total.

That's AWESOME. I was going to try to make a theme today. Where did you get the icon? I really like them (sorry if it's a dumb question, like if they are already included in the theme builder, haven't played much with it yet).

Have you uploaded it yet? Please update us when you do. I'd like to use that until I get mine up and running.

That hasn't been answered yet (least that I've seen). That's one reason I was going to wait but after using a few themes I'm going to go ahead and go with it. To be honest I will probably hold off a bit on the 2.1 update (a few days) just to be sure it works and doesn't break to much. Worse case we may have to wait a few days for the guys over at Sweeter to make some minor changes. But it's a great question I wish more developers would start to address.

If anyone wants to try my theme out, it's "Icestheme1". The only widget on it is beautiful widgets so everything else should work right off the bat. I think it's a good starting point for anyone who is good with design, I'd love to see what someone creative could do with it.

JonKyu, I tried yours and I like it. I'm not big on the twitter stuff, but I may incorporate some of your ideas into my theme.

EDIT: SOMEONE PLEASE D/L MY THEME AND MAKE SURE MY DIRECT SMS AND DIRECT CALL LINKS ARE GONE... I do NOT want those passed around publicly.

sweet...how do i find this?

Also, when you choose theme, you always have to download it again? you can't download it to your sd card or phone so you can choose anytime? maybe i'm doing this wrong.

how do you guys get different icons? when i download it to my phone, i usually never see the icon displayed. do i need to download icons too?

Got it, don't see them so unless I'm missing something they are gone.

Okay, odd question. When you d/l a theme does it delete the old one(s) or do we amass them all on the phone (i.e. wasting memory, since it doesn't appear you can load them from the phone)

Appreciate that. Last thing I need is my wife's number getting public. She's really hot and completely out of my league so I don't need the competition. :)

I do not believe they are stored on your SD card but you can save them to it if you want. The only ones I found on my phone were the ones I saved to SD.
