Home Replacement Apps: ADW Launcher

I guess there were a few fc issues still.

I just went to the market earlier and looked at my download list and noticed there was an update for it.

Whatever he did it kinda broke his adw notifier, as all I get are question marks over some apps now.

FC issues on 1.3.1 or FC issues on the new version? Mine has never force closed once...ever.

Me either yet but as you know how customizeable this is, it could have been one of the settings we don't even use.

True dat... my landlord has a Droid X and we were comparing phones and he kept saying "how the hell do you that?" especially with ADW LOL

But he's not very techno-savvy, I tried to explain rooting to him an he was looking at me like I had five heads LOL

Lol, well as he has the X, id not reccomend him to root if he isn't tech savvy.

A custom home replacement like adw should help him as motoblur kinda sucks speed-wise.

LOL yeah he asked me if I could root his for him and I told him "oh hell no, you're on your own with that one homey"

I told him I'd do ADW for him but not a root. I was scared to death when I rooted mine LOL

I did the 1.3.2 updated, and it's a bit buggy now (kinda wish I'd waited a little longer) - FC'd on me once already in the first hour after the upgrade, and the center drawer button is acting a little goofy, it sticks with it's yellow press background color on. The whole thing was actually working better before ... I've had no redraw problems at all, but then again most of my homes screens are still empty as I slowly keep messing with it and adding stuff.

All and all it's still good and I'm moving forward with playing and customizing it + the dev seems really quick about fixing stuff he may have messed up :)

Have fun everyone -

(Remember I'm on a non-rooted D1.)

I think 1.2.0 was the most recently most stable vers.

1.3.2 does run a tiny bit smoother, but it did have some issues.
He tweaked the settings some more so I will have to do a whole rewrite of my OP at some point.

I do like the way he customized the app drawer button now, as the icon packs I downloaded have icons for it, and now you can remove that function completely and have 5 icons (altering a gesture action or the Home button to opening up the app drawer), or you can set up the app drawer to one side entirely like on Zeam launcher.

If anyone asks why I wrote this the way i did, though, its because of my gf.

She came to the LG Ally from the LG Dare, and isn't all that tech savvy. I installed adw.launcher for her, and just recently showed her themes (she really likes them and actually liked when I had the darkedge red thin theme with 1.2.0). I think of someone like her when I write FAQs/Guides.

I still don't know why the photo widget wouldn't stay when I tried Launcher Pro. I have a pic of my girlfriend on my home screen but on LP when I would reboot the pic would be gone and it would say "error loading widget". I have nothing but widgets on my home screen, a picture widget, beautiful widgets clock and weather, and a battery widget. With LP they wouldn't survive a reboot... with ADW everything works and now the redraw issue is fixed too. Life is good and my girlfriend isn't questioning why her pic isn't on my phone. Life is good LOL

Lol not only life is good, but its also quieter, too! Lol

Btw, Big Photo Frame widget works great with adw for resizing on the fly.its not like fixed size widgets where if you expand it it'll stay the same size, just recenter, it'll actually resize with your expansion.

Helps when your desktop is anything but the standard 4x4.

Thats one of the things I like about ADW is resizing widgets... LP wanted you to buy the pay version to be able to resize. I have all my icons on the other 6 screens, and widgets only on the default screen. And I also discovered themes LOL

I finally got the notice today that there is an update available for ADW... should I wait until the bugs you mentioned get fixed or is it safe to go ahead and update?

Also, if I update will I need to run that redraw fix again in terminal emulator or will that remain?

Ditto - wondering the same as MattyP - got the notice for the 1.3.3 upgrade but am a little worried as 1.3.2 is FC'ing on fairly often and I don't want to make it worse
