How do u root ur phone and what are the benefits and risks from it?

So if you just root your phone, and that's it...don't go into it and edit this or change that, just have it rooted is there a change in your phone?

Only if the preinstalled apps are removed or a custom ROM is installed AFAIK

Ok well I just rooted my phone =) but now I have questions...what's "su" I used z4root and a superuser option popped up, and it makes no sense to me

Su is what gives the phone permission to do the things you want to do the require root I.e. roms, overclocking, backups, all these things require permission to access your hardrive to "redo" them per say

Ok yea I feel like an idiot for asking that now =) so where do I got about learning what I need to about over clocking, editing the looks, colors ect.. of my phone, not getting ads all that good stuff?

Since you have the ally I really dont no the answer to the over clocking or rom question bc we are on the moto droids and the apps we use won't work on the ally....u can get "setcpu" from the market and over clock with it though You just gotta figure out what works with your phone mine is set at UL 1.2 but that's a d2 so you gotta see what your is stable with I would go over 1.2 on UL though I would choose LV

Just do a Google search for z4root and you find the apk, then just download it to your phone install and win
