How do (will) you carry / wear your Droid X?

Carrying the Droid X

Someone in an earlier post mentioned carrying their phone in the side pocket of their carpenter pants. I also wear carpenter pants on a regular basis. I mocked-up a dummy phone, 5.0 x 2.6 x .4, and can verify the phone will fit in the right side pocket of Carhartt carpenter pants. Carrying it in a front pocket will be OK as well.

On a different note, does anyone make a metal case that totally encloses the phone, not just the back of the phone ?

I really wish Verizon/Seidio/other well know case manufacturers would allow us to buy a case before the phone is released. Seidio said their Droid X case wouldn't be available until almost 2 weeks after the X is released. Verizon won't let you buy a case until release day. The only cases available right now are poorly made silicon cases on ebay. I don't want to spend release day searching for a decent case online or standing in line at my local Verizon store. I preordered from Best Buy to avoid that sort of thing.
Just like on release date with the droid; they will have something for you
to buy. Not to worry....

Anyone consider if the Droid X will still fit on the desk dock AND car holder dock if it has a case on!!?!??

Very doubtful that it would fit in either of the docks with a case on. The Moto Droid doesn't fit in either dock with the Seidio Innocase on, but it really hasn't been too annoying for me. Seidio might release their own car and multimedia docks that work with their case like they did with the Droid.

I'll probably put it in a nice case and just carry it around in my jean's pocket. :)

I hope that better cases start showing up in stores soon...

I'm sure Seidio will make their own docking system but it won't look as clean and smooth as the motorola docks! I might just have to stick with a invisible shield in the front and hope I never drop it (however I drop my EnV2 every single day! haha)

Pet peeve:

This goes way back to my "Razr" and my original Blackberry's when they were blue.. I have always preferred the holster designs over the simple belt clip on's. I find they are more sturdy, fit against your body much better, and, hey, they're cool.

The one problem I have with them ALL, is that they always put the damned clip in the MIDDLE of the damned holsters. Even with the notches that prevent the phone from free wheeling in the holster and on your belt, sometimes the phone will end you sideways on your belt.

Why doesn't anyone use their heads and put the connection up higher, so that gravity alone will keep the phone in the upright position on your belt?

Because most people don't want the phone upright on their belt, they want it horizontal...

Damn! I just bought the charger, vehicle mount, and protectors at the Verizon store for 25% off. Had I known that Seidio would probably come out with their own vehicle mount that works with their cases, I would have held off!
