How is the Nexus compared to OG Droid?

Well last night/early morning there was a nationwide outage. Other than that I never dropped connection

Yea this morning I had zero reception. Whatever. 5:30am east coast time I'd rather not have to talk to someone anyways.

GNEX is dope! I forgot all about my D1..as much as I loved her.

First droid I owned was the OG.. Sad to see it go, the speaker died and picked up the gnex to replace it. First day was kinda strange, left it stock and played around. Few things jumped out, the volume was super low. Volume + solved that, second Swype! I was pissed. Had to settle for slideit. What garbage. Second day, rooted since it was already unlocked and happy to say have had amazing battery life and no issues with calls or data. I am very pleased to see how many developers are grabbing this phone up and starting to make mods for it. Thinking this is the next OG as far as MOD support! dancedroid

Just seen the post from XDA with a working swype! It works!!!!!!!!

For now at least, I'm getting as good or better reception on my Nexus as I did with my OG. Now the bars stink in comparison, but my house is in a dead zone, and I can actually speak on my phone in the house for the first time in ages. 3G data seems fine in this weak environment, too (so far at least... knock on wood). Your mileage may vary.

I was in a store tonight were I never got a signal with my OG, but I got one with the nexus tonight. Plus there's a dead spot in my house where I could never get signal with the OG, yet I can with the nexus. So I obviously have to say nexus wins in terms of reception.

Poor OG, anyone else missing it? I dont think they'll ever be another phone that special.

I really have a DUMB question. What does the OG mean when talking about the OG droid? I have the droid x and thinking about updating to Galaxy Nexus.
Thanx

It was with much sadness that I finally had to upgrade my OG Droid.

One too many times dropped, including twice in the hot tub.

She was a fabulous phone.

That being said... Damn I like this GNex!

I live in a horrible reception area, but think it's at least as good as the old girl.

i still like to load up angry birds on both phones and watch how much quicker it is on the nexus :). 2-3x as fast. love it.

lol I loaded angry birds up on my Nexus last night and I was blown away by how nice it looked on my Nexus. My OG ran it well at first, but after a year or so it just went to a slow crawl.

The bad thing is I see the damn ad banners even better now too=P Maybe i'll have to get the pay version.

Looking to replace my OG Droid. I'm still torn between the Razr and the Galaxy Nexus.

My OG has barely decent reception where I live. It's generally in the -88 to -98 range.

I compared my droid in a store with these two phones. Mind you the store had a repeater, so even my DROID got decent reception tHere. But the razr was actually about 5 or 10 better than mine aNd the gnex was about 5 or so worse.

So here is what I am looking at possibly
OG Droid -88 to -98
Razr -78 (at best) to -93
Gnex -93 to -105 (at worst?)

I love the fact that the Gnex is stock ICS, will be updated quicker, is easier to root/customize, seems to be supported by the droid community better.

But what are your thoughts on the reception?
Are these numbers decent enough to get the gnex? Or go safer with the razr?
Will these numbers improve with updates or anything?

So no one using mostly 3G has had any problems?

I am in a 3G only, roaming (not native Verizon network) area and I've had quite a few issues with data connectivity. During last week, I lost data connectivity each day, 3 to 4 times per day, and for between 1 and 4 hours each time. VERY frustrating. I verified that it's not the network because my GF with the D-Incredible had 3g service the entire time, as did my coworker who has an X. I have called verizon about it and their solution so far is to send someone to my area to check the network remotely. In the end, I'm going to force the issue and get a replacement because this is pretty unacceptable.

With that being said, my parents' house is in a horribly marginal signal area that's always been an issue for every phone that's ever been here. The OG did pretty well, but I have to say, I think the nexus is holding signal a little better. With the OG, I'd routinely have to try to send texts 2-3 times because of the "Message Not Delivered" error. That has happened one time with the nexus. Other than the data dropping issues I talked about above, I'm very happy with the reception of the device.
