How many people in line at your VZW store?

I passed by my local Verizon store around 8:30am and there were 20-30 people outside. Then I went to BB and ate Mcdonalds waiting for them to open. I was the only person there to get a Droid X, I had an appointment to pick mine up.

Then I went back to that Verizon store to pick up some accessories for it and it was like a madhouse. Someone at the door with a checkboard asking what you were there for. There were like 3 sales reps giving people demos on it and the counter was just packed with people buying and activating. They took care of me pretty quick though since I was just buying accessories. Picked up a car mount and hdmi cable and was out within 5 minutes.

BTW, they also gave me 20% off the accessories. I think there was 25% off accessories for higher totals than mine.

i'm live in a pretty small town, at least when the Ohio University students are gone. I got there around 8, an hour prior to opening. There were 3 people ahead of me, then about 2 or 3 more showed up before opening. The store had 20 in stock. The first 4 of us used up 7 of them. The last one was sold while my wife and I were activating our phones. Glad I went early.

Hendersonville, TN (north of Nashville) - Had an appointment for 8:00.
I had went in last week and cancelled Incredible, asked if I could setup an appt for 7/15 since that was what everyone was doing. Put my name on the list. Went in on Wed 7/14 to see if they had X's in and make sure I still had an appt. Yes, let me add you!
Got there this morning at 7:30 - they were going to open at 8:00am - the parking lot was full! Uh-oh. I walked up to the door and the guy unlocked it and asked if I had an appt. Yes. He let me in. Then he asked what my confirmation# was. Huh? I explained I had an appt and he put me in the queue. I was out with the X by 8:30.

Spent rest of day customizing!

Staten Island, NY my store opened at 9am, i got there at 7:40 there were 5 people I became #6 by 9am there were around 30 people waiting to get in, when I left the store around 10am there were 5 people left outside on line

I was in at about 10:45 (would have been earlier but I had no idea I was eligible for an upgrade) and the first rep I talked to said I couldn't have one from their stock unless I was opening a new line. I accepted that and ordered. The guy that checked me out lied and said they'd sold the 30 they had in stock.

I don't know how Verizon franchising works but are they supposed to do that? Can they deny existing customers? They did the same thing when I got my Droid (both stores in town) and it irked me but I didn't make a stink about it.

Some of the authorized dealers do all kinds of crap. They will set you up with new services and phones since they get better kick backs. I had pretty terrible experience with them and then had to listen to a verizon rep quote me the CSA that basically says that their word means squat. YAY!

I arrived 45 minutes before opening and was #15 or #16 in-line. After my experience with the phone thus far, I should have gone to my office and forgotten about the phone entirely.

only a few at my store, I was the second person to buy one. I couldn't get my contacts switched over that morning and went back around 5, I saw two being sold then.

There are 2 kinds of stores. The actual Verizon stores and the subcontractor Verizon stores. The subcontractor sores (typically kiosks in malls) are on commission and they get paid to sell phones with plans to new customers. They don't get that commission if they upgrade Verizon customers. Hence the scam that you fell victim to.

As far as my lucky day goes... I was working on the 15th and I wasn't able to go to a verizon store until the 16th ~4:30pm. I got to the store and they checked me in and said they had one DX left in stock but there were 5-6 people in line ahead of me. I waited for 30 minutes or so before they called my name and lo and behold nobody had taken that last DX! Woohoo!

The only problem I had now was the last phone they had was already scanned into the system to a customer with another name/account. Apparently he/she was going to buy it but did not complete the sale (not enough money??) and so they put the DX back on the shelf. So in order to sell it to me they had to go back through all the records to find the failed sale and void it out so they could provision it, and sell it to me. That took forever! Their inventory/sales system apparently sucks lol. Finally he found it and nuked the sale and then loaded me up on it. I've been with Verizon for 10+ years and they gave me a great deal on it. I got the DX, 3 screen protectors, Skullcandy ear buds, hard case, car charge kit, Jawbone bluetooth for around $320.00 and I still have the $100.00 mail in rebate to send in so I really got it for ~$220.00. What a deal eh?

Oh and yes the sales rep played with it for 15 minutes trying to show me features...ok ok enough, its my toy so leggo!
