How To Stop Verizon From Throttling Your Phone

I'm running ICS Gummy on the VZW Razr Maxx and when I go to com.android.providers.settings/settings.db/secure with SQLite Editor, I don't have throttle_polling_sec or throttle_value_kbitsps, only throttle_reset_day. I've checked every single line and even backed out and went into android_metadata, bluetooth_devices, bookmarks, sqlite_sequence, and system. Any suggestions?

Should I be concerned ??

I have a Droid 4 with a Verizon unlimited data plan (I was "grandfathered" in from my earlier Verizon plan on my Blackberry) and have an unlimited mobile hotspot. I've only used the hotspot to watch one movie on my iPad 2; however, I do listen to Internet-distributed radio for about 4 hours/week. My billing cycle ends on the 20th of the month; thus far in May I have used 473.63MB of data on my unlimited account. I don't text (have it intentionally blocked) and have used only 278 minutes out of my 700 minutes of voice.

Having stated all of that, I really don't know what "throttling" is or even if I am a potential target for it -- or even should be concerned about it.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Droid Razr Maxxx Android 2.3.6 System Ver. 6.12.181.XT912

Can Anyone Confirm That these are the correct values????
Thanks

Line 18-----Throttle-polling-Sec---------Value 1
Line 19-----Throttle-threshold-bytes----Value 0
Line 20-----Throttle-value-kbitsps-------Value 9999999999999999999999999

Throttling is the term for a carrier slowing down your data speed. It's usually only done after going over a certain amount of data used within a billing cycle.

So then, in my case is it something to be concerned with?

I think with the unlimited data &.unlimited hotspot plan and especially using less than 500mb of data, you are very safe from being throttled.

this is very odd. I was just tethered to my laptop and did a speed test with 4 full bars of 4g and got my worst score ever- 4 mbps. I un tethered and tried again- same thing. A couple mins later I try again and hey my highest score ever! 31 mbps. Does this mean the man knows when I'm tethered and throttle me and un throttle me when I un tether?? How would they know? Is there a better explanation?????????????????????????????????????? Will this method unthrottle me so i can have my full 30 mbps instead of 4?
Thanks

I used to use PDAnet to tether on my motorola droid 1. I would always notice my speed would drop a lot no matter my signal, when i had a lot of tcp requests. On pdanet it would show how many I had. Even if I would stop browsing the web or downloading, it would take a while for those requests to drop down. An easy fast fix for me was always just to turn airplane mode on and then back off and start tethering again. Back to full speed each time.

Edit: Also, as to being 'throttled'
I never have been. I always tend to hit 30+gb month and my speed always stays maxed out.

So is it just me or what but my phone seems to be running real hot now that I did both of these hacks...and battery life is a lot worse.
Exact same experience on my Droid 4. Went from 20 hours of normal use to 6 hours of minimal use before needing a charge and the phone ran significantly hotter. Reset back to default settings.
