HOWTO Install Any Droid 2 ROM on your R2-D2 Droid 2 and keep all the R2-D2 theme bits

Hmmm... are others also experiencing force closes with any of the live wallpapers?

Yes, I am having the same issue as docfong. I am on a D2G not using a custom ROM. I really want the lightspeed wallpaper to work. Plz help! (My guess is that it has to do with the shake features on those wallpapers not being compatible)

I had no problems getting the Live Wallpapers restored except for TWO of them...

StarWarsESB_lightspeed.apk
StarWarsESB_R2D2.apk

When I drop them into the system/app folder with Root Explorer, change the permissions, and reboot I still get a force close.
I am running on a Fission ROM 2.5.7

Any ideas?

Any luck fixing this issue? :icon_eek:

Dude, your guide is great. I finally decided to pull the trigger and I'm now running Fission thanks to you and mingaldrichgan. Thanks to groom also for his help. You guys are the best

Was anyone able to get these two to work?

No. At this point my only interest in getting anything other than the sounds and boot animation (which I modded to feature the movie-style logo) working is to create a complete and customizable R2-D2 installation package for others, but after failing to get various things working (like those live wallpapers and the Best of R2-D2 app) I've just about given up...

I need some help ming. How do I install your full starwars packaged? I downloaded it and placed it on the sd card, but I have no idea what to do after that.

Also, for anyone else. Do you know where I can find the google talk widget? There is nothing on the app store and fission does not come with it. Can I load my factory ROM get the apk from somewhere?

OK, never mind, I finally got the boot figured out, but none of the live wallpapers showup when I select wallpaers. Are there somewhere else on the fission rom?

Same procedure as Team Black Hat's original boot animation package on which it was based: boot into ClockworkMod Recovery, select "Mounts and Storage" (or something like that; I'm writing this from memory), then "mount /system", then go backwards (using the power button), then "Install ZIP from SD card", then find the file on your SD card.

Be aware that at least two of the live wallpapers have been consistently force closing on everyone. In addition, the boot animation sound can be very annoying (if not embarrassing or worse) if you get a random reboot. The boot animation sound can be easily disable by deleting either the /system/bin directory or the /system/media/d2_r2d2_pu.ogg file (I recommend deleting both) from the ZIP file before flashing it.

I've never seen a Google Talk widget. Did that come with the stock ROM?

The google talk/chat/IM came on the factory ROM. How do I use the fission rom manager to get the live wallpapers? I didnt see anything in the list. Do I need to buy the full version to add other zip files?

The Live Wallpaper Package is in the AddOn section. I have the full (paid) version of FRM so I don't know whether that's in the Lite version or not.

Question about the boot animation. Once I copy it to the media folder, do I need to install it from clockwork? I placed it there, but I still have the default fission boot animation.

Which file did you copy, and where did you get it from? The file should be named bootanimation.zip.

If you downloaded my modded boot animation with the movie-style logo, you'll need to open it up in a ZIP file viewer and extract the bootanimation.zip file from within.
