[HowTo] Wifi Mount your DROID - Discussion

So im trying to copy files off of my phone to the computer and a thing from netdrive pops up in the lower right corner saying "ftp command rest failed". What do i do?

Nvm figured it out. Just added the SD mount widget and it took care of it.

New to the Droid. I followed the How To instructions carefully but when I launched Netdrive, entered the information and tried to connect I get an error message. I've tried this several times but I keep getting:

"Server authentication failed. Please check the credentials supplied. Login denied."

What am I doing wrong?

You must configure a user, password, and port on FTPServer. Netdrive must be confgured for the IP your Droid has (whether wifi or 3g, get this info with the app MyIP), and matching port, user, and password.

FWIW, i've had zero luck mounting on 3g in NYC, so far

There was a suggestion to assign the droid a static IP on your home wireless network, which is wise. I suppose you would do this based on the MAC address of your droid.

It's working now...but I've already tried everything you suggested even before I got that error message. It's strange that the only correction I made that got it working was to change the default directory to: "/sdcard" from "\sdcard" that was instructed in the [How to]. The "\sdcard" didn't look right to me; it looked to me like it was the problem, which was why I changed it and it turned out that I was right. But thanks, anyway.

Now that my Droid has a drive on my computer (and is kinda-sorta connected to my computer wirelessly), my questions is: Is there a way to get other applications on my computer to recognize this 'connection'? And by that I mean applications such as WMP so that I can sync my music files without having to drag and drop? Thanks!

Me too

So im trying to copy files off of my phone to the computer and a thing from netdrive pops up in the lower right corner saying "ftp command rest failed". What do i do?

I'm having the exact same issue. I LOVE this way of connecting to my computer. I can move music files (MP3, WAV etc) to and from my phone. If I try to move a picture from my phone to my PC I get the error above : "FTP: command REST failed" What really stinks is when I connect with USB cable I keep getting BLUE Screen too. (that is a different thread I'm sure)
Any insight on the FTP error would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

-Is there an alternative to netdrive? For some reason the GUI is all screwed up on my laptop. I've tried changing the font I'm using, etc, all to no avail. The important entry info on the right hand side is being cut off, and )of course) the GUI doesn't allow for expanding the window. :(

I just use FileZilla as an FTP client.. works great!!!!

This is so awesome.. :D

Anybody care to help me a little?

I read the posts in this thread for the Mac>Finder>Connect to Service.

What do I do in the wifi settings on the droid?

Also, what username/password are people refering to?

Same question here - manual file transfer works fine, but programs such as Motorola Media Link or doubleTwist do not recognize that the device is connected for syncing unless it is through the USB.

Hey RinTin Awesome awesome tutorial, I'm still amazed, I got it down but when I went to add more music to my droid net drive pop up with the error message, "Failure when receiving data from peer" any ideas?? I really want to get this to work
