Starting in July / later half of 2011 I would guess VZW will probably quit selling 3g and start forcing people to 4G

Pretty sure Verizon said 2015 or 2020, I forgot actually. But yea, it will be a while till they phase out 3G. For now, they need they'll need CDMA for voice, while LTE for data. Then in 2015 (or 2020) then it'll just be LTE for voice and data.

I doubt that very much. It's all about mullah. Not everyone needs data enabled devices. Once VZW switches completely to IP voice as opposed to circuit switched as is present, I would expect VZW's older networks to be retired.

I saw an article way back that VZW intends to keep the 1x network at least for another 20 years.

So this thread doesn't steer even more off course. LTE phones will still work over 3G. LTE will simply be an option via a LTE SIM card. So if the HD is released early Q1 with LTE capabilities (read as option) it doesn't mean it wont work over 3G. Matter of fact all the LTE devices released Q1 will have this option.

Lets stay on topic. The HD will be strictly 3G or it will release with LTE capabilities and still be usable over 3G. Period. End of story : )

And if we all get what we want it will pre-order tomorrow, and launch with LTE radios, and a sim card slot for those who want to pay for said service. Fastasy phone indeed!! Seriously tho, this is the 3rd thread on this phone(and the last one left to close down LOL) and its already got 26 pages. Lots of interest in this device, maybe they will decide not to push to march...:icon_eek:

Nope. I did spot it in the HTCsense.com website though. Then somebody started tipping websites and it got taken down.

sad news, but also good for me because my contract doesnt expire until july. Oh well i guess even though it wont be out until like 10 years from now, i learned something: phones arent worth getting hyped up over on big red. its been real, and fun, but im done here spring.
