HTC Incredible OTA Update Mysteriously Arrives!

Any updates on the update? I haven't received anything and am I beginning to doubt whether this just much ado about nothing.

well if it only dealing with exchange fix I really don't need it.
But i certainly will apply it when offered.

That brings me to a question, being new to android, are updates handled like M$ updates? Auto or custom, as in can you choose not to apply?

I'll send Verizon a case of wine if the update makes the OEM battery last 10 hours.

I've heard about updates to software helping battery life before. What is it they tweak? The phone throttling up and back using the processor? Or just gets tighter control of the power usage?

They'd better not underclock after i've made my purchase. Hehehe

So, is this the sort of deal where an update.zip can be posted, so we can all manually upgrade to fix our signal bars?

This is my first Droid. I believe the update downloads and installs automatically. Is that right, folks?
Correct. With the MotoDroid, however, there was a very active technical community that would grab the update zip from their phones and post it for others to do manual updates. I'm hoping this happens for the Inc.

I believe the incredible runs now at 245Mhz when idle, then I suppose at 1000Mhz if needed.... a tweak for battery life should not kill performance but only tweak how its used.
