We heard earlier this month that HTC was in the final stages of negotiation with Google to sell them their smartphone business. We seem to be getting closer to the end of that process. HTC just announced that they will halt trading tomorrow pending a major announcement. They are also apparently preparing space for a town hall meeting with all staff members for an "announcement of a major strategic reform". It only makes sense that Google buy HTC as they get deeper into the hardware business with their Pixel lineup of devices. Google would finally be able to build phones from end to end. HTC shares have fallen 94% since April 2011.
