Lenovo Close to $3 Billion Deal to Buy Motorola from Google

Really?? You think this started only in the last few years.

Of course not, but are you suggesting it hasn't been accelerated at an enormous rate via taxes and bad policy? I just think it's silly how people pick a headline and cry foul when it's a very small example of a much larger issue. Americans need to be angry about this kind of thing and show lawmakers and policy creators we want domestic business, small and large, back on our soil.

Amercians won't work for $1 an hour, Chinese will. The only time business will move back to USA is when wage gap between China and USA closes. It's moving in the right direction but it will take decades to happen.

Well the issue is fundamental but not everyone will buy cheap if our economy was better, and it would be better if it were designed better from the ground up. I'd pay a premium if every product had a domestic counterpart.

It's the cycle I mean we all want high wages but we also want to buy things cheap. What was the big complaint about the x when it first came out?
That no one will want to pay full price (600+) for it they need to drop the price in order for it to be worth it. Hey I will admit I was crying the same thing. But the reality is that as long as people will not blink twice in paying that type of money for a sammy or an iphone but will look at the motorola brands like they should be sold at mid end prices, it will be hard to justify a factory here; especially for a phone that has lost the luster from its brand. If it was not for the x and Google saving them (or scooping them up for their patents) we would all be looking at this deal a different way like "it was a matter of when rather than if".

This goes back to my argument earlier in that we as Americans spend too much time crying about the government and less time taking care of business. I do not care who or what administration is in office one person (or party) is not going to save us. We have all gotten fat and lazy we want more to do less. When we get hungry and desperate again to take matters in our own hands and stop relying on the government to feed me, clothe me, make my business competitive, take care of my family and community then we will get somewhere. Those complaining about our "socialist movement" need to look more toward your neighbors and tell them to get off their tales those that are lazy and lend a hand to help your community for those who are unfortunate. If we get people to take pride in their work and take pride in doing for themselves then we will see some change...or we can continue watching (insert 24 hour news channel) and complaining about the world we live in. It is up to us.

Well I think the X is a poor example, the hype wheel is what devastated the online presence of that phone. All the rumors pointed toward a little budget phone that could be innovative and instead was just a normal "ok" device that happened to be built in the USA. I didn't buy for the disappointment, not for the price.

But your point still stands, it might be unavoidable entirely with our excessive importation.

Think that may have been part of this entire secret deal. Samsung gives up on Tinzen, Google drop motorola but keep the patents, Google share...ughh agree to a deal with Samsung that they will share their patent so Samsung can continue making iphone clones with android os on it. Samsung wins, Google wins, Motorola, LG, HTC lose.

But then again Google could still continue with their unbiased relationships with oems... I wouldn't be surprised to see one or 2 more LG nexus devices so on the surface Google can say "see we are still committed to working with other oems".

Hi,

Good point... didn't know about the Samsung-Tizen deal and that Google will keep the Motorola patents out of the deal with Lenovo. This may mean that the mobile market will become even more competitive!

Regards
