HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I just spoke to a VZW rep at best buy and he is saying middle of February with possibly a 4g price of 35 a month. Take it for what its worth though.

I suspected that would be the date. Not this Feb. 11 or 14th talk. Glad to hear something more concrete saying before March.

Now, $350 for a 1-year contract seems way too high to me. The only way that's doable is if LTE pricing stays at the same $30/month (whether it be capped at 5GB or unlimited, I don't really care). A $10-20 per month forced upcharge for 4G will put this out of the range of how much I'm willing to spend on a cell phone. Or maybe I'll just have to go with it on a 2-year contract for $250, sell it online early, and take another upgrade from a family member in a year or so. But $250 is still $100 more than the dual-core Atrix on ATT, which sucks.

I wouldn't take any verizon wirelesses employees word at this point.

It wasn't a VZW store rep though. He said he couldn't give exact dates, but time frames. He also mentioned 4 or so phones will all be released by the end of March.

All Signs Point to HTC Thunderbolt Launch on February 24th, $249 | Android Phone Fans

I'm still trusting my source on the 29.99 price for data on this device. After all, he has been handling it for a few days now. Prob gonna be intro pricing, so for a limited time before they switch to tiered.

dammit. my guy's never been wrong. he's a VP (one of a few hundred) of marketing for verizon. now he's saying pre-orders on the 14th

The pre order date makes sense, and as usual still around 10 days before launch and the 24th is a thursday and is within the 14 day return policy for verizon so its a date that makes sense too,i think that we might see a hint of pricing around the super bowl, ay least that's what i think,i mean if the pre order date is on the 14th we need to see something about pricing first and why not release your pricing on the most viewed event on television? Right ?

Droid Life updated the 1-year contract price on the TB. It is now $330, no longer $350. Not much difference, but it helps. From what I've been reading lately, it sounds like VZW will keep the same $30/month unlimited data plan, even for 4G/LTE, at least initially at launch. If they do that, not only will they steal iPhone customers from ATT, but they could get some EVO customers from Sprint as well. It would be a smart strategy. Of course, this is still speculation from forums and what "employees" have posted. Regardless, I suspect we will know for sure in a week or so.

I would not be surprised if they jacked the price up for LTE or instituted tiered-pricing plans several months down the road though. And hopefully if and when they do, people who have existing contracts will be grandfathered in (ie. will not have to pay the new rates until their next contract renewal).
