Does this mean you can buy the phone and just get a 3g plan for now if your not in a 4g area?

This just means you can do voice and data on 3G at the same time.. and as far as video chat for Iphone too?? Not sure.. is Tango on Iphone? That is an app you can use from the market for video caht, but not sure if it is cross platform as I don't follow apple apps that much.. good luck..

Voice and data was heldback only by a software update? wow, how come they didnt release the firmware update quicker, Wasnt that a bigpart in the hate campains by the other companys? I thought it was a hardware limitation with the network, not a software. This is interesting...

Personally I wouldnt buy from wirefly. If you make any changes to the line that the phone you purchased from them is on during the first 6 months, Verizon notifys wirefly and they'll consider that a breach of contract and charge you the full price of the phone. By this, I mean things like removing a texting plan or changing to a plan with less minutes, or of course, adding a different phone to that line.

Also, I noticed a dead pixel on the Droid 2 I purchased from wirefly and one of the reps that post here told me I could have them send me a replacement and send my defective phone to them once I receive the replacement. When I talked to an online rep from their website, they wouldnt let me do this. Told me I'd have to be phoneless for a week. After dealing with that, I finally received a new phone from them a week later.... also with a dead pixel. I decided to just deal with the pixel because I didnt want to deal with wirefly anymore. Once my 6 months with wirefly are done, I'm switching my non-smart phone to that line and get the TB under my main line.

I'm in my early upgrade period right now (my upgrade date is actually 5-15), Wirefly will no recognize my early upgrade so I have to wait till VZW starts selling them.

When prompted on the Wirefly site at checkout, there is no indication that the data plan will be any higher than what you already have ($30 unlimited). In fact, it says your plan will stay the same. I suspect everyone has been freaking out over LTE pricing prematurely (it won't change until summer, maybe with the Bionic's release), but I expect we will find out for sure with an official VZW announcement today.

The real question is whether to buy it from Best Buy since I pre-ordered already (and risk paying $50 too much if they overcharge, which BB likes to do), wait to see what VZW will charge (and risk that my store will run out or charge the same as BB), or pull the trigger on Wirefly today for $200. I haven't decided what to do yet. Is there any reason NOT to buy from Wirefly? I'm not worried about double ETFs since I'm not going to be canceling my contract at all for any reason. The only thing I can think of is I will get it Thursday afternoon at the very earliest instead of the morning. The key is whether VZW stores will charge $200, $250, or $300, and whether there will be any instant or mail-in rebate. Hopefully we find this out this morning from VZW.

I think I am going up to Best Buy today and see if they will price match.
I doubt they will, but its worth a shot.

Either way, I would rather get it from then, so anything wrong/etc I can just take it back there.

I think I'm going to skip the Wirefly deal, simply for the fact I like to deal with people face to face when there is a problem and not have to wait to get results, and also based on other member's negative experiences with them. I hope VZW does $300 with a $100 rebate. If so, I'll get it from them and get a refund from BB for my pre-order instead of getting it for $250 from them.

Coincidentally, HTCSense.com is down right now for maintenance. Related to TB? :icon_ banana:

maybe this will clear some things up.

1. Data remains the same at $30 a month for unlimited. As a matter of fact until big red announces it, Im not seeing another compatible data plan.

2. Folks who ordered from the boys in blue have a leg up on the rest of us. They are still paying $50 + 249, so same price. But Verizon is not doing preorders on this one. BMX has already stated a short supply of phones as it is, so they need all the units they can for walk-ins.

Summarizing...

$30 unlimited data including 3G/4G, but still throttled of course.

$299 2 year contract with either BB or big red.

$199 2 year contract with wirefly, and TWO ETF's . Big Red's $350 + Wirefly's $350 = $700. Be aware of this.

$369.99 1 year contract.

This is all confirmed by my local verizon rep who was reading it off to me from an email. And two telesales reps.

So Wirefly only saves you $100 (assuming no MIR through VZW) but tacks on an additional $350 ETF. Eff that noise, hopefully VZW will drop some knowledge on us today. I would really like to know when they will be selling it.

Many people have called into Best Buy customer service to confirm that BB will honor the originally advertised price of $250 to those that pre-ordered early in the first couple of weeks, while walk-ins will have to pay $300.

I don't understand how VZW can charge $100 more than an online retailer selling their phone. It does not surprise me from BB though (they like markups).
