Huge pile of problems

I'm with Redbeaver on this one. Fastboot to .744, but then you need to do a Factory Reset, to be sure you've flushed out all the remnants of the current fubared OS. The drawback is having to completely reinstall all apps and user's settings.

I'll look into it then I guess. At this point I am completely okay with having to reset all my apps, you know? Hahaha.

lol....

thought he got it fixed that was "good to hear"...

wow I need a class in internet acronym thingies...
LOL (is that one safe)

Oh woops, well when I said normal I meant the unhappy "normal" state. Not the factory reset happy normal... haha. Glad to see you weren't annoyed with me :P

*update*

SOOOO I used this (Droid Razr Utility [Windows] - DroidRzr.com) to AP Fastboot the phone to .748. That did nothing. (I couldn't use RSD...it wouldn't work). I rebooted the phone and it's in the exact same state. I just looked somewhere and saw that apparently this doesn't delete your apps?

What can I do to ACTUALLY completely overwrite the phone and revert it? Or did I just do the fastbooting wrong? It did have an error upon auto-reboot where it just sat there with the android sitting by the warning symbol. I vol up/vol down'ed and just chose reboot because I didn't have an update on the phone or anything. I was thinking maybe an update.zip for a previous or different version might be nice, but I have no idea. Any help would be appreciated!

RSD deletes some of ur apps. specifically aps that comes tailored to vendors....

example, im with Rogers in Canada and it comes with with some Rogers Music, Rogers Movies, Rogers Account, etc... then i installed some games. RSD to Brazilian ROM, then poof.... no more Rogers stuff. but my games still there. (plus, Motocast got a different logo?)

so in essence, completely overwrite the phone means, some apps that comes standard will be reverted, but ur apps won't be touched. unless u flash RSD, then do a factory reset from Motorola Recovery (all buttons pushed), then it *should* deletes ur stuff too.

good luck, man.

Ok, so how do I do that? What did I do? All of the apps are still there, nothing changed at all... I have RSD but it didn't work so I used the other program... RSD was having trouble connecting to the phone it said. It never got past stage 1.

with my barely 10-days old knowledge of Androids... here goes:

plug ur phone to PC, set to Charge Only, enable USB Debugging in App settings in the phone. make sure most drivers is installed by windows. to check, go to Device Manager in Windows and on the top of the list, it should list ur Android phone as ADB device or somethin like that. then unplug it.
turn off ur phone
press all 3 buttons. power and volumes. u get to black n white screen.
select AP Fastboot.
turn on RSD, get the fastboot files ready (dont unzip. leave as zip file.)
plug phone back in. wait a few seconds. RSD should detect it. it will say a different phone, but wutever.
load the fastboot files, click start/flash wutever, and it will start either 14 or 18 steps (GSM is 14?).
at this point, do NOT touch ur phone until it completes ALL the steps. it will reboot a few times.
then RSD will say "hey, phone done. please manually reboot."
so u unlock the screen, and power down. then turn on as usual.
RSD said "success, bro!" or somethin like that.
then u turn off again.
go to Motorola recovery again, the all buttons pushed black n white screen.
1 of them will say delete stuff.
delete everything.
reboot.

or something along that line :D

good luck!!!!

You couldn't get RSD to work? Really? Should work fine as long as you install the drivers. Oh wait. Did you install Android SDK? Installing it, you have to install something else too. It's been awhile since I installed everything.

Yes I have the SDK installed. Hmm. Yeah using RSD was giving it a communication error. If I tried twice it would just sit in the first state for 30 minutes (not actually doing anything).

thats the same video i used too, but i didnt even install all the SDK. just plug it to my Win7 Ultimate and leave it for a few minutes.

so u mean first state is step 1 out 18 in RSD?

u have the latest RSD version?

man, if its still under warranty and u live in Canada, if i were u, i'd leave it outside for one night and bring it back to the store the next day. "hey, wtf, my screen just died!" :icon_ devil:

Hey, try this:

[GSM/CDMA] EternityProject's RSD Alternative for flashing OFFICIAL Motorola ROMs - xda-developershis might help instead of using RSD Lite :)

I'll try that out.  The phone has gotten even more crazy.  Now it sometimes goes into reboot loops where it just keeps on booting and rebooting over and over until just the DROID image is on the screen.  I manage to hard reset and then if I leave it off for a bit and reboot it comes up fine.  Sometimes at night it shuts down and in the morning I have to turn it back on with the vol up/down buttons held too.  I'm going to have to retry flashing, I guess.  But that didn't work last time.  UGH.  I don't want to actually break it or anything because that's $99 out of my pocket.

Oh and yeah, even after an hour it was still stuck at 1/18 with a communication error

Go to http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-razr-hacks/198379-updated-droid-razr-utility-windows-5.html, and do the Fastbooting flash... Your phone will be completely wiped clean and will be essentially back to the out of box state and updated to the most recent version of the OS, version 173.
