My first Maxx had a sound issue and since it was with in the 14 days I got a new one to replace it. I love my Maxx and it has had no issues since until today. It's my fault and I want to cry. It was in the car holder and it was in its Otterbox Defender but some how it fell out of the car holder and must have hit just right even with the case it broke the screen. :(( Its not shattered but the screen under the top one has a crack that I did not see until I got home. The screen will not work at all. My question is do I call Verizon or go straight to Asurion? I went to Asurion to check into how the claim process is going to work but when I click on file claim a screen pops up but there are no words and I tried three different web browsers. Of course I then read reviews on Asurion and they where almost all bad so I had a sick feeling in my stomach. Just looking for advice and maybe some info on Asurion that is not all bad. Thanks for letting me vent I plan to call someone once my husband gets home and I can use his cell to make a call since my phone works but I can't see anything.

Wait I thought that that otterbox had a warranty itself if the phone broke in the case it was covered.

Call verizon before you reactivate an old non-smart phone! I'm not 100% sure but, I "think" you will lose whatever data plan you currently have on that line now.

And this is correct u will lose the data depending on ur plan but im almost positive the otterbox has a warranty of its own.

OtterBox does not warrant, and is not responsible for, any smart phone or other ... Period, OtterBox will (i) repair the OtterBox product using new or refurbished parts or (ii) ... Seal the broken case in the envelope and put in an outgoing mailbox.

Yea I just looked it up myself not sure where I heard that..it sounded good tho didn't it lol.. That's why I don't use cases they don't do crap and make the phone huge.

It would have been great but the exposure to profit ratio not to mention the liklihood of fraud - made it improbable but hey....we can dream :)
I wouldn't go so far as to say cases "don't do crap" many saves to the occassional failure makes them a good measure of protection for a $600+ device. The Op's situation was very unfortunate but equally unlikely to happen again. Must have been a very precise application of force by the fall, physics is a funny thing ANYTHING can happen.

Well to make my update quick I will say I did call Verizon but I had to go through [FONT=Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif]Assurion. They told me it would probably be 3-7 days so I excepted it and set in to wait. Well I get an e-mail last night that it would be here today. I figured it would not be today but sure enough it was here when I got home this afternoon.

I have a question I was expecting a refurbished phone but the phone was in a box and looks brand new has all the cords sim card and plastic cover did I really luck out and get a new phone??

So far I am very impressed with Assurion! Also even though Verizon made me go through Assurion the customer service person was great even called Assurion and made sure it all went well. I know not everyone likes them but I feel even though I messed up they helped me get things rolling. Also sounds like ICS is being rolled out and I have a fresh phone to install it on! Just waiting for it to charge before firing it up! Thanks for all the advice!

Not sure if you read my reply early on. I mentioned it would be sooner than later and that in all liklihood
It would be NIB not refurb.
Anyway. Congrats.

Yeah I read that but I misread and thought you where talking about Verizon. Just glad its here!
