I want my ICS getting sick of waiting!!

Hey i have a question im on leak 232 i get random notification tones is it just a glitch in the leak? Also i have apps that were working fine then they just stopped working correctly I've uninstalled and reinstalled but they just don't work. Any ideas or answers how to fix these problems? Thanks for any help

Em, this thread is more about installing ICS, rather than any problems. I suggest you create a new thread. That way you might get more people to look at it (this thread title is about wanting ICS) and give you an answer.

Also you'll need to be more specific on your problems. What are the tones? What apps aren't working? Are you rooted?

Many sites say that our ICS got delayed due to bugs in the first ICS update for RAZR / RAZR Maxx. So, is it possible that we won't get the official ICS for two weeks after they release the bug fixes update for Razr/Razr Maxx? I kept going to their forums here lately and waiting for their fixes first. I am getting a feeling that we won't see our ICS update for another 3 weeks atleast.

This thread was just another useless complaint about something outside of anyone's control. These forums have been inundated with useless threads like this. Did I slightly overreact? Maybe slightly!, but the point is the same.

I was just picking on you.....my bad :-\

Like bbucks36 said you don't have to be rooted. Here's the steps (you may know some of this already).

Get the .232 file from https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4gkPYbY5JHicEp0X1R6SWNEc0k/edit?pli=1 Don't worry that the name of the file is 5.9.905. Motorola gives the name of where is coming from, not where it's going to. Be sure you have the Motorola drivers installed from USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA on your PC. These may install automatically when you connect your Bionic to your PC.

Your phone has to have at least 40% power for the install.

1. On the phone go to Menu>Setting>Applications>Development and check "USB Debugging."
2. Plug phone into computer.
3. Press "Mass USB Storage" from the list of choices. Two drives will show up. One is MOT (Internal Storage) and the other is Removable Drive (SD-EXT).
4. Put the downloaded file in the root (ie main area) of SD-EXT (not Internal Storage). No need to change the name or extract it.
5. Eject both MOT and Removable Drive and disconnect the phone from your computer.
6. Power phone down
7. Reboot into stock recovery (aka reboot recovery) by holding Power and Volume Up/Down at the same time.
8. Select "Recovery" by pressing Volume Down, then press Volume Up to initiate it.
9. When the robot appears, press both Volume keys in at the same time.
10. Select “apply update from sdcard” using the volume keys, then Power to initiate it.
11. Using the Volume keys, choose the file that you downloaded (above), press Power and let it load.
12. When the install is done, press Power and it'll reboot.

The whole process, from moving the file into the SD-EXT card to phone rebooted is about 10-20 minutes. Of that, 3 minutes will be the phone extracting the files (Step 11) and the rest for the install itself (Step 12). A long time to stare at your phone, I admit.

Hi. First post here, just registered to reply.

First of all, thank you so much for instructions and pointing to this leak file

A couple of questions/issues.

My Bionic is unrooted and this is the first time I've downloaded any kind of OS leak.

I followed the instructions like you said and everything installed fine, or seemed to. However, on my first reboot I had no phone service or data connection. Second one as well. Third one, I finally got Verizon phone service and 4G.

However, a few problems persist. First of all, Handcent SMS - not working. Just not responding at all. I did get a pop-up and a notification from an incoming text, however. This is not that big a deal, cause I can always use the stock text messaging app (which wasn't working at first after the update, but now is). Still, I'd like to use Handcent, if I can at all. It's up to date so it should be ICS-ready.

Second - a bit more perplexing. Gmail is working fine, but my Hotmail which is my default for the main Email app - uh uh. Not loading a single message, tried reentering my account/psswd, no go. It keeps trying to load messages and I got the infinite circle spinning. I do have a big inbox, not sure if that matters. Not able to send either. Tried sending a text message to my work email, it says 'one of the email addresses is incorrect', weird.

My default launcher was GoLauncherEx, now i'm having probs with it. It's slow, keeps saying it's not responding, etc.. should I just get rid of it altogether ?

Basically, a lot of apps started out reaaaaally slow after the update. Now some of them are working, others aren't. Is this just a matter of being patient ? Has anyone else experienced this or any other issues I mentioned ?

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you !

Update: as soon as I typed up this post I got a notification that I have 6 new emails for my hotmail account. That's a first. But I'm still unable to see my inbox even after I click on the notification

After applying the update did you wipe cache?

How are you setting up hotmail? If you haven't set it up through corporate sync. I'm not sure if by default the phone is doing EAS or POP setup for hotmail. I would hope EAS, but if not just do it as a corporate sync.

You may just want to go back into settings and wipe data. That usually will fix everything. Of course doing that will wipe all your data, and what not.

You're welcome and welcome to the forums.

As suggested, you may have to clear your cache. Sometimes the software needs to "settle in" and it may take a couple of reboots.

I also suggest doing a search on this forum to see other people's solutions. Or possibly starting a thread. The title of this thread is about wanting ICS. Not everyone is going to see a problem on this thread.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies No, I haven't wiped out cache, not even sure how to do it (don't laugh)

Well, since I typed my post, my email issue has been slowly resolving itself. Now I am able to see some messages. Reading them is a separate story...It's coming slowly, but surely.

So, really the only problem remains Handcent and overall slowness of the system for now. Should I still wipe my cache or just wait ?

Yes, I realize this may be off topic here and I did consider starting a separate thread, but since my problems aren't that drastic, I figured may be there is some sort of a quick fix so I can quickly move on..

I did do a search, but on google, not here - however, this forum hits on google results - wasn't very successful in finding the answers.

Thanks again.
