ICS Battery life

I did a Meter training on my Maxx, was getting horrible battery life after the ICS update.

Ran the Meter training and got worse battery life, massive lag too. Started to scream bloody murder.

When it got to 5% after only 8 hours, I plugged it back in and charged it with the phone on.

I unplugged it and went to bed.

Woke up, checked the time. Noticed my battery was still at 100% after 6 hours.

After a 30 minute phone call and 12 hours later, it's now at 90%.

Do a meter check. Do it. Now.

Pics for proof!

Just a quick update...

I'm really loving ICS personally. Love the look and the wonderful new features. I haven't noticed a huge cut in my battery life but it's definitely gotten worse. I'm not in a 4G area either. With any luck we'll get some updated soon to optimize battery life. I'm pretty upset about the whole thing considering I paid an extra $100 for the Maxx because battery life is that important to me.

Still, I can't complain coming from a 2-year-old Droid X. I wore the battery down on it so bad it was dead long before the day was done. I'm just glad I can use my phone without having to carry my charger everywhere I go!

I like ics myself, on my 3rd fdr to fix battery lol. Im just fooling myself though, i get garbage reception. :-(

After doing all my FDRs without much success, I starting doing the battery meter training. To my surprise, the first battery drain cycle took over 24 hours. I then charged with the phone off and started the second battery drain. Right before I went to bed, my phone was at 30% and I knew if I left all the same, my phone would drain to 0% before I woke up, which I heard you need to avoid. So I decided to turn off wifi and wireless data. When I woke, I was surprised again to see no battery drain all night (according to the motometer). So, that tells me that mostly the data connection is draining my battery. See screenshot and note what happens to my battery drain rate when I turned off data (wifi).

I noticed the same thing. The WiFi for some reason is using up alot of my battery at night, I quit using wifi at night and I leave it on 4G right now.

It's interesting how some are having this issue and some (like me) are not.

Also, make sure your network is not set to global.

You are so right ...just did a second fdr..after the 1st one I saw no difference...and global was checked (after 1st fdr it wasn't checked)...so, thx!!
Lets see if the 2nd one is a charm....I am not installing a single app till I see an improvement in batt life.

Your network setting won't matter if you get a bad signal.. more juice is used just to communicate with the tower.. and there goes your battery.. I live this every day...

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

After doing a messed up FDR, then a proper FDR, then one FoxKat training cycle, here is my result:

I used my phone as usual over these 3+ days. However I don't stream vids or listen to music files much on the phone. I surf a lot, use bluetooth a lot, some wifi, and have a moderate amount of phone calls. I have some specialized apps I use frequently. I guess you could say I'm a moderate power-user.

I think JuiceDefender+ helps a lot. It really keeps the background apps & radio usage under control.

Looks like another satisfied customer. And my fellow agents are spreading the news so it's a double success!

Great job Agent 94 (AKA 94lt1), and also lowfatdog (BTW, are you Chicken, Beef, Turkey or Pork? :icon_ rofl:)

Well I have to report that I too was having dismal battery life after the ICS update on my Maxx. I have done the meter/battery training as you described and I am not back to a battery life that I had with GB. Thank you for the information.
