ICS Battery life

See what happens. I bet it will be fine. If your phone seems glitchy, you will probably notice right away. On the other hand, some people (myself included) sometimes do an fdr and wipe cache partition more than once just to make sure the phone is squeaky clean.

Still kicking.....moderate use

My battery life is terrible. I haven't gotten a full day since the ICS update. I've done 2 FDRs and attempted to reset my battery meter twice after both FDRs.

Yesterday I got desperate and rooted the device. Removed the majority of the bloatware and battery life is still terrible.

Any more suggestions? 4G is on, wifi/gps is off.

On screen time is 2h 14 mins. Still no where close to 2 days, I don't expect that. But I can't get to 20 hours. Especially if I stream anything, I get around 5 hours and it's dead.

I have really learned that it is going to vary wildly by location. My First Maxx got crap reception. My second one, I go days 55+ hours of "up time".
Today I was in the land of NoWhere with light useage (if much at all) I'm down to 60% and 13hrs on. That would be 90% normally.
Really depends on where the phone is and how hard it is working to keep up functions.

You may not even have to train it, the idea is to help those that have a clear problem of inaccurate battery meters :-).

That's very funny, I've been calibrating my battery all along. Out of habit mostly, I guess there wouldn't be any improvement. Thanks for the suggestion.

One more question, my 4G/3G widget didn't work under ICS, any ideas to keep it on 3G until I need faster?

Quick question for the Maxx community, is the light grey "3g" indicator killing battery life? I can'T seem to figure out what it means lol.

Yeah, the 4G widget does not work anymore in ICS. By default your phone is set to global mode which is a battery hog. To put your phone on 3g only, install "Phone Info" from play store. Go into "Phone Information" then scroll down to the " LTE/CDMA/EvDo" (or whatever network mode your phone is currently set to) drop box and select "CDMA auto (PRL)." On GB, I use to keep my phone in 3g only mode because I live in a 3g only area but with ICS, my battery has been fine in 3g/4g mode.

I think all it means is that your phone has 3G but there is no data being transferred at that time. As soon as you open browser or do something that needs data, the 3G icon should show the busy data transfer arrows.

The 3g or 4glte will usually grey out when you are using wifi..or at least mine does.

Ahhh, good catch rjeatkconley! I didn't even notice the wifi icon. And yeah, technically your phone will use more battery on both wifi and data. On GB, that drained battery big time. I am not sure how much on ICS because I have been in the habit of turning data off when on wifi.

I do know that GB used to drain my battery on 4G/3G mode but since ICS, I don't bother with 3G only anymore because I don't notice any difference in battery. So, maybe there is not much difference having both wifi and data on either.

For my usage patterns, i have to be by wifi (and have it on lol) if i want to make it through a day on one charge lol.
