ICS Battery life

Use smart actions to restrict background data, and turn off global.
Settings > More...> Mobile Networks > Network Mode > LTE/CDMA
Before doing this, my OS was using 32% of my battery, now it's using 20%

I did a 3rd fdr...batt is certainly better than when i first dl'd ICS...but I still wish it was a lil better.
Any Idea when when ICS will get an update???

Ahhh, good catch rjeatkconley! I didn't even notice the wifi icon. And yeah, technically your phone will use more battery on both wifi and data. On GB, that drained battery big time. I am not sure how much on ICS because I have been in the habit of turning data off when on wifi.

I do know that GB used to drain my battery on 4G/3G mode but since ICS, I don't bother with 3G only anymore because I don't notice any difference in battery. So, maybe there is not much difference having both wifi and data on either.

I never really noticed a bigger drain. I turn the wifi on when i am home but never turn off data. Then again, being an og razr, if i am using it, it dies quickly anyway....
I also bad never turned of 4g. When i first got my razr, 4g was sketchy at times. After the .181 update, mucho improvement. The update to ICS has been huge for my battery life. I can almost get 9 hours of continuous music playing on my Bluetooth headset. This is with 4g, wifi, gps, full data sync on, and screen set to auto.
I think thats pretty decent for an og razr.
That and i have a charging pack with me at all times.

For my usage patterns, i have to be by wifi (and have it on lol) if i want to make it through a day on one charge lol.

I am on wifi almost always too. It does much better than the 3g in my area. Out of habit on gb, to conserve battery, I always turned my data off whenever I was on wifi. On ICS, I'm guessing turning off data when in wifi will still save alot of battery... but I haven't actually put that to the test yet since ICS. It is possible that ICS is much better at managing the battery drain when both data and wifi are on.

No wifi for me, all my neighbors have their wifi locked down LOL

I just powered on my phone and watched it drop 5% in less than 8mins and shoot up to 99 degrees. It's been OFF since 8am WTF?! So it charged from 0-100 (and yes I let it charge at 100 for almost an hour in case it was only at 95% etc).

Makes no sense. This will be my 3rd master reset since updating to the .215 leak.

I went and unrooted my phone and called Verizon and got another phone on the way. My temps are up and battery life down even after 2 master resets and no apparently installed.

I guess what pisses me off is this is my 3rd maxx. All within the buyer's remorse period. This will be a refurbished one and I've only been with Verizon for 2 months. Makes me want to go back to Tmo because they automatically give you an alternate after 3 exchanges.

On gb i usually had data cut off when hooked up to wifi, this saved a ton of battery. Now however i just leave the data on while connected to wifi (and still get much better then pure
Cell data). I think (but really don't know) it's related to the data symbol being white and not blue. When wifi is on, it does all the work. Before i thought just my reception was looking all the time (so killing battery), now i realize it's whenever my "3g/4g"symbol is blue lol. Just my observation, probably wrong^^.

Seems like last FDR/wiping cache partition (again) seems to have "temporarily" restored my maxx back to life. I've been streaming/playing stuff on my sd via poweramp for 5 hrs, over 150 texts and twitter and still at 50% (from 70% after wipe) minus the battery amount that "disappears" after a FDR.

Yup..fixed it! At the moment I'm still at 30%! How many FDRs does it take to get ICS to work right? Lol..

And my battery isn't getting hot..

On razr (not maxx & not rooted) i am still down 20% after doing the battery conditioning, cache reset, and hard reset. Not letting background sync, and on 3g. Any other thoughts?

My battery starts running hot after like 5 to 10 minutes of phone usage. Any thoughts on how to correct this?

I have noticed a quicker drain in the battery life. This is one of the many issues I have had since the ICS 4.0.4 downgrade. I can't say upgrade as this update is the worst one I have ever had. Even contacted carrier and motorolla to go back to previous version. But like usual no support from either.
