ICS on Razr, many not happy!

I would say that it is a small amount of users. With every update users always think it is going to be so huge change, like going from Windows 95 to Windows 7. Instead they get upgraded from Windows 7 to 8. There will probably be some Rezound owners that would prefer GB after the update as well.

One difference for us shows in the size of the update compared to the Razr update. HTC appears to not be reusing much of the old code in their update like Moto did and this can affect user experiences.

I agree. When my Inc went from froyo to gingerbread the only major changes I noticed were better battery life was much better and it broke the timing of the camera flash, making taking photos in low light a waste of effort (flash turned on after photo was shot). Any other changes were minor or didn't matter because I use Go launcher anyway. I suspect after reading so much about ICS the same thing will happen, better battery life and some other stuff that won't matter to me.
At this point I wouldn't care if they held off a couple more months and just skipped straight to jelly bean.

Well...

On ICS the bars and decibels seem to be more accurate. Thats a complaint I see, I knew that was coming when I noticed it after it was first installed. Some ppl are having reception issues...but for some its a perception thing.

I honestly feel some issues are: factory reset related, learning curve related, just plain ole removed and 3rd party app related. Some examples -

Screen transitions seem slower, might need to play around with the developer settings.
Phone app related things are just moved around from GB.
Some stock RAZR widgets I used are gone.
3G/CDMA is removed and replaced with Global and GSM.
Flash has issues to just doesnt work at all on 4.0.4.
The phone defaults to Global. That ....might....effect battery life and reception. The verdicts still out on that one.

Lots of lagginess, lots of FCing in Settings areas reeks of a factory reset. I did it to see something, didnt really need to...and it seems to have made things a lil better.

I like the Windows OS analogy. And depending on what HTC does with ICS and features...I can almost guarantee some wont like it on the Rezound. I have seen ppl not like Froyo for the Droid 1, Froyo and/or GB for the Droid X1..each getting claimed a disaster...while for me and some others it was better.

I have yet to see any update for any OS....desktop or mobile ....be problem free.
