[ROM] ICS pre pre pre pre pre pre pre pre pre pre Alpha

Cush,
Hope you were able to get your system back up and working. Just wanted to ask if you've made any head way on a D1 ICS build.

Thanks...

Not yet unfortunately replaced the hard drive with one adroid sent still no go moving on to the next possible problem mother board and graphics card

That's a bummer. What kind of issue are you having? Won't boot? Won't POST? Not sure if you mentioned it already.

Here are the specs of that system...

Newegg.com - Open Box: COMPAQ Presario SR1750NX (EL445AA) Desktop PC Athlon 3500+ 1GB DDR 200GB HDD Capacity ATI Radeon Integrated Graphics Windows XP Media Center

Looks like and AMD ATI Express 200 chipset on there with a 3500+ CPU on board ATI Graphics.

Looks like it is an Asus A8AE-LE MB, does this look like your MB?

I found the last handful of replies in this thread just purely on luck and saw the mention of the A8AE-LE board. My advice is to save your money on a new low end system or even just an uber cheap used one of the same era that doesn't use the same board. You are seriously wasting money on that worthless board. Pretty much all problems I have seen from it both personally and second-hand stem from either all capacitors being garbage and/or the power supply components on the board itself are garbage. I have an HP machine with that same board that was given to me by a cousin who dumped it after it started exhibiting random hardware failures. Replaced a few bulging caps and lasted about a year and died once more in the same fashion.

Just fair warning really. I REALLY hate this thing. The system was amazing otherwise for the age. But the motherboard kinda kills all of it. Quite literally. ;)

I would agree the only reason I was posting them was the to keep him with the same chipset so he didn't have to to a whole OS reload and that would be sure to fit his case and back port panel, in the event the replacement board didn't come with one. I have a similar MB with the same chipset that has the Bulging Caps as well. It must have been a huge batch of bad caps around that time frame or the voltage regulators weren't working properly. That could be the problem with Cush's board too.

I did find this other board and the zoom feature on the photos shows the caps are all flat, but as stated above do you really put the money into something so outdated.
