Most rom devs just have donation links, app devs (and some themers) put apps (or themed apps) in the market and get paid that way... I don't think I've ever heard of a dev charging for roms...

If I'm not mistaken Liquid was charging for nightlies awhile back.

Symantics. Giving something for a donation it's not a gift. In my eyes gifts are given with no thaught of a return.

Yeah the blackdroid used to charge. Everyone was annoyed with him when he disappeared and that was a big reason

He did provide a lot of useful things though, I still see his work credited once in awhile

He had a lot of features that have only recently been implemented into GB roms way back on 2.2.1 even if he annoyed a lot of people and was very sporadic he always provided something good and speedy.
