If you're considering the X2, this is a must read!!!!

Yeah that make's sense, I sort of assumed it was a problem with the firmware clashing with the SD card, not JUST the SD card but, admittedly, I don't really know much about mobile firmware. Great insight though Rushmore, thanks.

Also reassuring VVildcard that it can almost definitely be fixed at some point.

Alright so this thread has pretty much persuaded me to upgrade soon, one thing: how is the battery life? On my droid 2 with heavy use my phone was wailing after around 5 to 6 hours.. is the x2 any better?

The DX2 firmware is the problem and not the sd card.

QFT.

This is ultimately a fix that will come from Motorola or ROM developers (once we get it fully hacked).

Me pointing out that the sd card type makes no sense in regards to MP3 audio pops is trolling? Riiight.

In regards to the current issues, please call Motorola and get with a level two tech (whatever that really means). They are probably NOT fixing this issue, since they ALSO attribute it to the technically lame excuse that the sd card is causing the issue (in spite of the fact the skipping happens with internal storage too and most if not all of a MP3 file caches to memory- before playback).

Out of box, the DX2 is weak and most folks do NOT root their phones.

I don't see how it's a technically lame "excuse," especially for people who aren't master of their phones like you clearly are. Though I can guarantee you that Motorola has no clue about anything. They didn't even know SD Cards come in different classes, much less how it could be related to any problems. Pathetic, really. The VZ tech 2 support guy was the one who tried to assure me GB had been released for the x2.

Guys stop arguing and would someone kindly inform me on the battery life of this device ? :)

I just got my dx2 a couple of days ago, im coming from an incredible with 2 extra batteries. What I have found is that the battery life is fairly bad. I need another battery to make it through the day. But I am a heavy user, lots of business calls and google maps to get from job to job, email all day long and such. If you spend less time on the phone than I do you should be fine. But be warned dual core is a juice guzzler. Also I use bluetooth a lot.

Thank you mygraine! This is what I was a little afraid of, the droid charge seems so enticing because its amazing battery life but its only single core.. I guess as i,m a moderate user I hope it can get me through a day. Looked into the extended battery at all?

Need a custom kernel for that, which there currently are none for the DX2, not to mention based on custom kernel adventures with the gTablet, undervolting is a very slippery slope with the Tegra 2.

I am glad to help. Sometimes the forums can get a little crazy. I have yet to look into the extended battery., truth is that I am unsure of wether or not I will keep the phone. I was sold on the nvidia goodness but soon realized that a lot of game are not compatible with it. Battle Bears -1 for example (please someone prove me wrong and tell me how to make it work). So seeing as I may take it back, I have not rooted so underclock and undervolt is not an option for me right now. On the other hand the screen is way easier to see outdoors than the charge (which is where I work).

Wow I wasn't aware about the nvidia lack of compatability.. I don't play the game you mentioned but still haha
