Is anyone else dropping Verizon when they're contract runs out?

Just curious; how much are you paying with Verizon for that unlimited data?

$72 a month for unlimited data, with unlimited text vzn to vzn 500 texts outside the network and 450 minutes, I am good till at least 2014, and even after that date not planning to switch, best network out there, anywhere I have been never had a dropped call.

$44.99 for unlimited data on the Corporate Data Plan. I believe that will continue. Only non-corporate Verizon customers are getting hosed.
And I'm not switching to a GSM carrier like AT&T with their noisy protocol phones that cause radio-interference in nearby speakers.
The FCC should ban those phones.

Edit:
I stand corrected: Verizon is hosing corporate customers too (if that is of any consolation). I'll have to pay $15 more for the Corporate option, and be subjected to the same 2GB (or whatever) data limit of the selected plan, if I upgrade now.

I signed another 2 year contract when I upgraded to my Maxx a few months ago. They told me nothing on my plan would change including my $30 a month for unlimited data. So I should be good for another 2 years unless they break the contract, in which case they won't receive anymore money from me and I'll switch carriers.

All these new plans because of excessive data usage by a small percentage of Verizon's customers, who were determined to unleash their "unlimited data" needs on the Carrier's network, for a small, fixed monthly fee. :(

Hate to break it to you, but the bandwidth hogs are just a scapegoat. Are they a contributing factor? Yes, absolutely. But they aren't the only reason. This has just as much to do with ALL users using more data. The average data use has risen at an astronomical rate since the unlimited data promotion began several years ago. People are also dropping to lower voice and text plans in favor of data usage. Verizon doesn't like that. Unlimited data wouldn't have lasted forever anyway.

Right now I am on the edge. I love Verizon's service and coverage but I use about 6-10Gb per month on 4G with minimal tethering. I stream Pandora for about 3-6 hours daily and do most of my Web browsing on my phone. Plus I am the only one in my family who wants/uses a smart phone, so updating to a family shared plan would royally screw me. Currently I only pay $43/month but the shared plan would have me spending $140+.

Now if Sprint gets a national LTE network in the next 2 years, which I highly doubt, I may switch to them.

I agree. My average use is a little over 2GB, so I guess I'll have to pay more now, if I upgrade.
I should have upgraded in June/July, even if the price of the Maxx was a little higher then, to keep the unlimited data. The VZW site looked like it offered the Corporate data plan in addition to the tiered plans, so I didn't think they'd retire that plan too.
Think I'll stick with my DroidX for a little longer...

Just buy your phones off contract from now on. As long as you keep your devices in good shape it is feasible to sell the old device on craigslist for a few hundred bucks and use that cash on an unsubsidized device. It's still more expensive by a few hundred but it beats paying $600 for a phone.

For those of you thinking the grass is greener on other networks think again. VZ does have the best network, the coverage is truly amazing. Some of my coworkers that have at&t get very poor signal in our building, and that's even with the amplifier thingy on the ceiling, what a joke!

You gotta pay to play!

Mek's Maxx

I get a Vzw discount through my job. That, combined with my unlimited data, means I'm sticking with them. Ehh, for an evil, soulless, corporate empire I do get great reception out of them. Could be worse, could be AT&T

Verizon has great coverage they are always expanding the network. Guess what all of this costs money. If you care about none of these go to Sprint.

Definately!

My contract ends in two weeks, I can't wait to drop Verizon!! Their service is way too expensive, and their customer service really sucks.

Virgin Mobile here I come!!

I can't really remember one bad time experience I've had with VZW customer service. As far as price I can't say on the share everything plan I still have unlimited. My price right now is as good as it was with ATT. Once they finally take my unlimited I may change. But I will pay full price for a phone to keep my unlimited data. They may change on that also, but until they do I'm sticking with VZW because of the network.
