Is anyone NOT having battery trouble?

There's also the problem of using a lot of stuff all at once during the first few weeks of use. That kills the battery on any device like this. Once you get the hang of which features you like to use, and how to control them, the battery life usually improves quite a lot.

Apps that use the radios (wifi, gps, bluetooth) are battery killers, try running trapster and the nav app at the same time... you better have the cord plugged in.

no problem

I got my droid2 last week and have had no real problems with battery. I charged fully out of the box before using and then, depleted fully and charged fully 3 more times. Im now making it thru the day easy with slacker playing most of the day@ work and pretty heavy browsing on 3G. I have done the normal reduction in screen brightness and gps and wi-fi off if not in use. One night this past week i went to bed with over 50% battery though and it was dead when i woke up. . . . There was nothing running that i was aware of, i still don't know what happened. I have not had it happen again though. Overall im happy with the battery life on droid 2. My opinion is that the initial conditioning of any given battery is of paramount importance, not to say there are never defects. After the first 3 or so full charges if there is no significant improvement in battery life compared to how quickly it drained@ first i would definately try a new battery.

how did you have such ridiculous battery life?

Battery

My droid2 with its normal battery would last about one 1/2 days with a lot of app use but no real browser use. however now i have the extend battery and i can get easily 2 days maybe more if i tried. And now that i have had it for over week and the first few days of find all the good apps has past i can see no really battery issue considering my old phone LG Voyager would get a day 1/2 with heavy texting alone.

I run no managing apps i just use the custom battery setting so its low when im not using it. and i use the power control widget to turn of everything when its not used like gps bluetooth and display is allows off.

after 10 minutes of casual use..just 10...it goes from 100% to 90 % ....at tops the battery lasts 5 hours...usually its around 4..something just isn't right...also when charging it can say it's at 70% one minute and then 100% charged the next..I wonder if it needs to be charged on the native charger only instead of my old charger that also fits the phone

I would def recommend using the native charger. These phones are known to act up a bit and get a little screwy when you use a charger that was not meant for it. Some of your issues may very well be alleviated by sticking with the intended charger.

well it took my battery to charge for two hours and it was 100 percent complete and thats when i ran it completely down from when i took it out of the box yesterday. i have heard you are suppose to charge them for 8 hours but i thought if it is 100 percent complete that was good enough. what do ya'll think?

anyways i have played with mine alot yesterday and last night before going to bed it was at 80 percent and then i played with it this morning so its at 60 percent right now. so not much to tell. i will have to wait until i charge it over night and see how long it last during the day. i will post back once i have done that one day.

I have found on my Droid 2 that after a full charge, I reboot the phone and I seem to get much better battery life. If I don't reboot the phone when I take it off the charger, it seems that I have to charge it about 3 hours earlier. I think I am gonna go buy the extended battery just to have the extra mah.

I also found a rubberized hard case on ebay that has room for the extended battery and door. If you look at the pictures, you will see some of them have a little raised area on the lower portion of the back piece.

Do you reboot it still plugged in or to you unplug it first?

I unplug it first, then do a reboot.

I haven't had any problems with battery life. It's been great. I got the phone a few days after it came out. It needed a long charge when I got it home but has been fine ever since. Today it's been off the charger for 16 hours and I still have 60%. Today was a light day of use with about 20 minutes talk and checking email about once an hour. Other heavy use days have been similar. Only time I killed the battery was when I was playing with Google Sky Maps with the GPS turned on. I put it down with the app running to head over to the neighbors pool to lend a hand. Wound up spending about 3 hours. When I got back the back of the phone was hot and the batt was down to 15%. WiFi GPS, and bluetooth off, screen timeout 1 minute, background data on, maximum battery saver. One reason I got the 2 over the X or Incredible was the advertised battery life. I need a phone that can last all day out in the field. I had to get rid of my palm and pocket pc phones because of battery life and went with a flip phone. Technology, simplicity of use and built in apps is so advanced compared to the old smart phones that after playing with mine for a bit my 76 year old father wants to get an X for the bigger screen.

I just got my Droid 2 yesterday, but so far the battery concerns seem to be unwarranted, at least for me.

I took it off the charger last night at about 11. Left it on through the night, and then used it today light to moderately. I downloaded a lot of apps today, as well. Almost 24 hours later I have over 50% battery left. So no complaints from me, thus far. I love this phone.
