Totally Ok with my Bionic. Most of the data problems appear to be consequences of the way Verizon rolled out LTE with no respect for standards. It's mostly a gnarly tower LTE/3g config issue.

But living in LTE saturated Manhattan, I don't give a rat's ass. All is good here, and soon will be elsewhere. Or else.

Verizon is run by less than world class folks, though. They need to seriously clean house. If I was a stockholder I would demand it. Idiots.

I agree with many of you that Quad core doesn't make a huge difference and there will be a vast learning curve when it comes to utilizing all that processing power.

But unfortunately the fact is that the average consumer is more about the newest gadgets and technology whether they understand what that technology is or not, and the manufacturers are driving that to those types of buyers which in turn means that newer phones means software developers spending more time having to make their apps work with the newer technology and thus meaning that the older tech will either be left behind or with some devices completely abandoned altogether.

I personally think that dual core will be sufficient enough for the next couple of years and that the Bionic will be up to par with such said devices and many that are available today.
But I do agree that Moto is spitting out way too many devices and from some of the internet chatter i have been reading the consumers are not actually happy with this in fact it is having the direct opposite effect that they had thought it would have and buyers are feeling remorse before they even walk out of a store with their "new" device knowing now that in a couple of weeks or months that their new phone will either be forgotten or pushed aside for a "better" phone.

I bought my bionic 3 days ago. After following it all last year from January until its release in September when it finally came time to buy it I held out. Heard about the Nexus and purchased it on the 15th, day of release. After 3 weeks, going through 2 phones and experiencing problems everyday, huge problems I decided to return it and hear I am. Shoulda stuck with my instincts. Turned my back on the Bionic once but won't do it again.

For the Bionic owners curious of the Nexus. My thoughts is its hands down a solid device outside of a phone (thank tablet) best android to date cause of the software but as far as being a phone the Bionic wins in this area. Speakers suck on the Nexus, call quality was the worse of any phone I've ever owned. After having the Bionic a few days with the extended battery I'm impressed. I love the phone, love the features and battery life. Jm not missing the Nexus at all, just ICS which we will have soon enough :) just my opinions. I'm not knocking the Nexus at all just the Bionic makes me happier and for a $100 bucks cheaper u cant beat it.

Out of all the top 3-4 phones out now, I chose the bionic over the others. There are only some specific differences with each which is where the opinions of which one is best comes from by each persons preferences of which little specifics suit them best. For me, battery is huge. 4g is like big ass 426 Hemi that drinks gas like water. Bionic, I believe, has the biggest extended battery you can get from Verizon and I love having unlimited power all day. Performance wise, they're all too close to tell. Bionic isn't any worse with 4g than anyone else, I don't care what they say. Even nexus has signal trouble in almost every thread I've read. Bionic is strong, gorilla glass, a beautiful gunmetal frame around it, a secure battery cover and still beautiful with or without the extended battery( unlike rezound which I fine hideous with a fat ext batt ).
To me, the Bionic is the best phone currently available. There's my two pennies :D

You gotta remember these things outdate themselves quicker and quicker I don't think it's the end but this was just a stepping stone for next gen stuff. On that note with the bionic dropping in price we may see a ton more hacks and just overall improvement

This I what made my decision easy, the bionic was $100 less right off the bat and I got another $50 back two weeks after that.

Same with me. Got mine for $150. About 90% the power of a RAZR, with a removable battery and much nicer form, for half the price. Originally I was gonna wait for a GNexus, but decided to go with a phone that would be upgrading to ICS later, once all the bugs were worked out. Was glad I did, all I hear are complaints about all sorts of problems with GNexus. Besides the Rezound, which I don't care for much, I would say the Rezound and the Bionic are the 2 top phones right now, for best overall features. RAZR loses because of internal battery, and GNexus due to all the bugs and no removable storage. RAZR MAXX might change that, but then again there will be lots of quad-cores coming out this spring/summer, so all of our phones now, including the GNexus, will be behind the curve.

Anyways, I am so glad I went with the Bionic, it should last me 20 months. I slapped an extended battery in my Bionic for 25 bucks, and it is just an unbelievable powerhouse that will go a full 18 hour day with heavy usage. 2 days on light usage.

Got mine for $150.
My wife and I got lucky, we bought our two bionics from amazon wireless for $150 a piece that included two $25 amazon gift cards. A week later they had their Bionic-costs-a-penny promotion and I emailed them to ask to be included in the promotion, and they did! They refunded us the $299.98 so overall, THEY actually ended up paying US $49.98 to buy the two phones! What a world.

Got my bionic as a x-mas gift

I had a choose of bionic - razr - gnex but decided on bionic mainly because it have all the things I need for now

" dual core, solid screen, very nice design, external memory, removal batteries, and value "

My previous phone was the LG revolution and it was very solid built. Rooted and Oc it to 1.5ghz and it was great while I have for around 6mths

I had usb problems with the 1st bionic I got on x-mas then verizon sent me another new 1 and its not refurbished I was very surprised as I was expecting a refurbished 1 instead

OMG what a hugh difference between single vs dual core

My lg revolution has already been max out from the mods/init tweaks/roms/oc/scripts that I've done and the bionic just run circles around it

Now that I manually updated the bionic to 5.9.901 with eclipse 2.1 oc @ 1.25 its a beast

Now I'm not going upgrade until a solid quad-core with hd screen come out and more apps that max those values or a quad core nexus next year

Honestly as long as the bionic gets ics and still have some dev support it its the best value you can get for a solid dual core phone

With .901 running this phone is excellent. With the extended battery I'm cruising fast for 16 hours a day.

ICS will be the cherry on top but it doesn't matter. The Bionic is exactly what I want.

If its any consolation to you it will continue to get good support. Moto and Verizon won't let it slip into obscurity just yet.

Btw they are flying off the shelves right now because of the price. Very hot seller.

And I love mine. Excellent point. This is why devs should continue to support instead of being blindsided by the perceived next best thing. Tactical error by some IMHO.

This link gives you a better option for Oc your bionic

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439013

I did this last nite and tried a few speed as well and notice 1.250 running perfect for me

I did research before and it not recommended going over 1.3 and it also act different on different bionics
Some will take the 1.3 some won't like mines didn't run properly with 1.275 - 1.5

This Oc mod also don't require your bionic to be on full throttle for it to be effect " 1000 max/min " I'm @ 1.25 max 300 min and it'll survive boot. Well actually after you flash the speed you want it'll take effect when you boot up.

Enjoy fellas

I know bionic has had a bad rap for a while, but I have to ask why. I mean I understand its had its share of problems, but whenever one of these threads are started it seems the vast majority still loves the phone. My bionic is the shiz.

well u guys also have to take into consideration that android is a unix based (not linux thats the type of os andriod is not the base) os. which was one of the first operating systems created in 1969 Where RAM and CPU components were extremely expensive especially RAM. Because of that the os was created to run at the utmost performance on low amounts of cpu an ram quantities. ex. try an do a test with UBUNTU (linux os but Unix based) vs Windows 7 on 3 ghz single core processor with 2 igs of RAM. the windows 7 would lose by a landslide to ubuntu because of the unix base that hasnt change hardly at all in the last 30 years because of how well it runs on little to no hardware. so beefing up the Cpu an all is nice but it wont make much of a difference what would make the best difference is to stream line the bloatware/core bloatware built into the device's rom/os thats making the os act like an windows 7 os instead of a linux. cuz what is bottle necking the phone is the bloatware demanding ridiculous amounts of cpu power an RAM that could easily be fixed. lol look at a Japanese made phone the os an bloatware is so streamline plus a linux base that the hardware in the phone is only at 30% usage under a standard 100 percent bog that our phones would run into.
