Just got an iPad from work today, and I'm saying goodbye...

If the iphone comes to Verizon it'll be the downfall of the droid series of phones. Lots of non-techies who like the droid will jump ship immediately. Which is a majority of Droid owners. DEVs will follow the money trail and create apps for iphone first and possibly Droid if it's cost effective.

Do not underestimate nor undermine us Android users. Yes a few will jump ship, but to the majority of us you couldn't pay us enough to leave Android.

Lol. Okay maybe it wont be the downfall of the Droid line but if the iPhone comes to vzw it will be the most popular phone Verizon has ever carried and will outsell android by miles.

The iPhone isn't the #1 selling phone in the world because its a peice of crap.

I am not a fan of iPhone, iPad but my bro picked up an iPad and I messed with it with it over the weekend. It's pretty amazing. People can say what they like. But its a great product.
I love Android but I give credit. where its due. iOS has a lot of nice features and with the apps that I used. They were bad ass. And I def agree and noticed you got fanbois on both Android and Apple fronts.
So don't fool yourself, myfellow Droidheads, Apple is not who they are for nothing. Apple is the primary reason we have Android and the reason why its getting better. I don't mind hearing the bashing but when you undermine who Apple is. You kinda like go... Ehh. Whatever on the opinion is. I know we have a lot of converts and that's fine.. its also entertaining to hear why they converted but it doesn't negate the fact how Apple is still in the lead, not just cause they had more time in the game but also they make good tech. Hell, if you goto the thread What Apps You Would Like To See Developed; half the apps mentioned are from Apple's library.

I like the concept of the ipad, just waiting for the Android versions to come out this fall. I'm hoping for the ability to tether my droid to it. Would be nice for vacations and short business trips.

Only reason iPhone is the most popular phone on AT&T is because there's nothing else to choose from. I don't think most Verizon customers care about the iPhone now that there are so many Android phones that whoop it.

***I wont even use that NPD report about Android being number 2: it was reported it didnt include coporate and enterprise users. Those numbers are included in the last link I posted, 2nd graph.***

When u say the world.....do u mean worldwide:

Mobile sales soar, but numbers are squishy ? The Register

Or US sales:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2010/feb/23/mobile-phone-sales-2009-gartner

Or maybe u meant #1 global smartphone:

Android gains on iPhone in global smartphone sales | TG Daily

Or US smartphone sales:

iPhone vs. Android | Nielsen Wire

Either way, the iPhone isnt number. Even Apple acknowledged that with the last link I posted, 2nd graph, they refer to that graph when disputing the NDP report about Android being number 2......It all depends on what stats u look at and how u look at them. Like this one here saying the iPhone is the #1 US maker of phones Q1 2010:

Apple becomes top U.S. phone maker during 2010 first quarter

.....RIM/Blackberry is a Canadian company......and Apple just passed ....Motorola.....which is still a very, very close 2.....which might change in the next few months.....

The iPhone might be the most popular/most hyped/most advertised...right now....because: (my edits are in red)

Only reason iPhone is the most popular phone on AT&T is because there's (was) nothing else to choose from. (that was good) I don't think most Verizon (Sprint, TMobile) customers care about the iPhone now that there are so many (good) Android phones that whoop it. (well...I woulda just said to choose from...lol And new WinMo phones may be in the mix with WinMo 7; only time will tell on that one.)

Corncakes, Do you think the average person will not switch to iphone? You are deep in the tech world. Most aren't. When VZ gets the iphone it will have a stranglehold on the smartphone market. DEVs will produce apps on the OS that will provide the most exposure thereby the most money. It's great you love android and all it offers but to think iphone coming to verizon doesn't worry Google you are in the dark. Google knows they need to streamline what they have been doing for the last year. They are confusing the average smartphone user and giving up market share because of it. The change will be much to the shagrin to technofiles but the majority like ease of use. One device, one OS, and minimal confusion. They don't want to have to reboot constantly, don't know what overclocking means, and don't care when updates are coming. They want to turn the thing on and use it

Well, I tend to be a big fan of technology, and I bought an iPad. I love it for what it is, which is an expensive toy. I don't regret purchasing it at all. People can (and will) spout **** all day long about its shortcomings, but calling it featureless crap is only showing your ignorance. Some of the android fanboys here and on the tech blogs are seriously becoming worse than the apple fanboys ever were. This whole idea of "well my choice of phone OS is better and everything else suxors" is really freaking immature. People seem to have it stuck in their heads that this is a war, and that at the end of the day, everyone should only be using 1 OS. Even if that OS winds up being android, I would much rather have a market where competition encourages these companies to improve their products. Android has issues, so does iOS. I'll be sticking with android even when the iPhone comes to VZW because I like to tinker with it, and the customization options aren't as thorough on the iPhone. Most of Verizon's other 15 million smartphone subscribers who aren't forced into a blackberry by work will probably switch. Remember that the consumer doesn't really give a **** about rooting or overclocking. The consumer will go for the smoothest, easiest user experience. Unfortunately for android, apple is quite good at this.

I'm sure majority of the people bashing the iPad never used one. One of my friends and my cousin have it and I'm on it every chance I can get. Videos on it are pretty sharp, internet is smooth with wifi, games are pointless and addicting, etc. On a side note, all three of us use android phones.

Completely agree. Users need to stop with the " In order for Android to win, apple has to lose attitude." Its stupid. I'm not bias with a well made system, even tho it may have some flaws, or the company polices suck.

Yes, in my opinion Android is better overall, as my choice in phones, but Android owners are sorely mistaken if they think their device is the end and be all of devices. Example: Lets take apps. When it comes to quality of apps, apple wins. No, I'm not talking numbers. Numbers don't mean nothing. I'm talking about the polish of the apps. If you take comparable apps, and compare them, the apple app is more polished and usually by a wide margin. Do I know why? No, but I will not deny something that I can clearly see with my own eyes that shows me the difference, and will not hate on one, just to feel like mine is better.

I use my Droid Incredible to wireless tether to my Ipad, and it is a great combo system, kinda like having both and xbox 360 and a PS3. You get the best of both worlds. I can now do all things instead of limiting myself to just one OS.

The Android platform beats apple in someways, as Apple beats Android in others. So just enjoy both, other wise your just lying to yourselves.

I bet you came back because of all the porn you can watch on your Droid, now that it has flash! (j/k... mocking Steve Jobs and his "Flash is only for watching porn....")

Welcome back. I thought this thread was going to take another turn and that you were leaving your droid, and I was thinking "Whatever floats your boat. I'm happy with my Droid." But I was happy to see I was mistaken in my assumption.

Welcome Back!

Cheers,
B.D.

to that damn thing already! You'd have to pry my Droid from my cold dead hands before you'd ever get me to switch to that thing. I felt like I took a giant step backwards in features, functionality and apps, and that's not even talking about the phone aspect of the Droid. Sometimes it takes a little bit of time apart to truly appreciate what you have. dancedroid
