I am getting my extended battery today and i was just curious if there is a proper way of storing your old battery to preserve its life?

Like most batteries -COLD-. It slows the chemical process and is why battery operated devices do not works so great in the Arctic. Put it in a zip top bag to keep the moisture off it and stick it in the freezer.

NiMH and NiCd batteries self discharge at a MUCH faster rate than alkaline batteries. In fact, at "room temperature" (about 70 degrees F) NiMH and NiCD batteries will self discharge a few percent PER DAY. Storing them at lower temperatures will slow their self discharge rate dramatically. NiMH batteries stored at freezing will retain over 90% of their charge for full month. So it might make sense to store them in a freezer. If you do, it's best to bring them back to room temperature before using them. Even if you don't freeze your NiMH batteries after charging them, you should store them in a cool place to minimize their self discharge.

Will the rocket fish hard case fit over it I wonder?

Unfortunately it does not fit with the rocketfish case, im surprised.
I was able to push the case on really hard and get 3 of the 4 sides to snap in, doesn't seem like a good idea though

What I ended up doing was leaving the battery cover off all together and putting it in the case, no issues there

I also read on another forum people were just using the stock battery back, instead of the new one, i tried this for a second, but took it off, its a super tight fit, and I read that it can cause screen issues due to all the pressure, so try at your own risk

Syd, do you know if that case doesn't fit with the ext battery? I have the same one. Was gonna try to swing by a verizon store to see if they'd let me try it on first ...

not sure, I really want to go without a case completely anyway. so much easier to push the buttons w/o a case IMO

Im thinkin Zagg case for the bottom and that's it, unless I can find a good slide in pouch, not the VZW one, I have that and its bulky

Man it does fit but seems like a real tight fit. Kinda like the corners are snug and the middle pushes out.

yeah, the rocketfish case is nice overall, but kinda cr@p, my friend works at BB so I got it at cost, otherwise no way I would of paid 25. I have 2 of them and both of the left sides dont sit flush. Works for now while other companies develop stuff

Yeah I really like this case I think I will stick with it for now. It does not look like it is doing harm, and don't want to go without a case.

Thanks for posting this, I saw you are on slickdeals today. I am tmaxx445 over there too. I am loving my Droid X so far, and am planing to order my extended battery tonight with a total of 55% off. Now if I could only find a way to get the desktop media cradle for less then $50 - 25% I would be set.

It should but not if u use a case. Its only a 1mm size increase its almost unnoticable. It just looks like ur cover is on wrong.

Bought this for my mystical soon to arrive X, the price is just too good to pass up.

To date I have the VZW leather like case with the kick stand and a gel skin w/leather horizontal, looking at the pics of the battery cover I'm sure there won't be any issues. Now I just need the phone.

One question to you folks that have this battery and of course the phone, does the phone report accurate battery levels? I've heard that some extended batteries don't report an accurate level, such as the Seidio on the D1. By the sounds of the thrilled users it does in fact report accurately, just need someone to confirm, thanks.

Thanks for letting me know that it did not fit with the rocket fish. I will probably wait now til next week and get the sedieo battery and their active case.
