When I got mine from Amazon, I had to wait for a day till it activated!!
If its not working call Vzw and check on your activation!

Mine wouldn't auto activate via sim the first time. I had to call 611 and read them the sim # (damn hard with old eyes!) so they could manually activate it. When i had to get a replacement sim ( because I didn't know switching activations would burn the sim # when i felt like using my D1 for a few days after flashing Pete's GB and Chevy's 1.2 Ghz MV kernel) it auto acivated fine.

Don't need wifi for 99% of apps! Launch playstore, hit menu, settings, and see if the box for "update over wifi only" is checked!
Downloading over 3G/4G does burn up a little of your data though!
Use wifi whenever you can, that's free! :)

Wifi is not usually open or free unless you go to McDonalds, Starbucks, or other places that offer it free. I live in the boonies on an island and the only wifi I get is mine.

Also check your battery settings and see if its set for "data saver" which also only lets you download on wifi!

And even then some free WiFi places (like McDonalds) is crippled so you can't do things that use a lot of data (including the Speed Test app). The Public Library's WiFi works, though.

One thing about paid apps from the Play Store. If you delete it within 15 minutes of purchase, you'll get a refund.
