[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

Just passing the info what worked for me. I wasn't trying to give definitive #'s to help the next person.

No I hear ya bro, not trying to tell you up or anything like that. Now I'm curious, is your phone still running the 86vsel at 1250 still? Wondering how it's acting for you, and I know it's too early to tell for battery life, but mind posting what you experience? I'm thinking about upping the vsels on my slots as well, just to see if the responses from it are more noticeable, like when opening apps or flipping screens or whatever. Battery life has not been noticeable changing to these slots from the deprimed one...okay maybe it's taken a hit just a little bit. :)

that didn't last too long..... it appeared stable for a bit, maps didn't play nice with it. So I'm settling with 1200Mhz. my d1 has been rock solid ever since. here's my quad with 1200

From the post this fellow mentioned:
There was a known quirk in gingerbread where wifi will not connect or show available networks until any remembered networks are forgotten, after which it will scan and connect properly. As far as I know this has not been fixed yet.

thank you sooooo much! i was freaking out and had reflashed a backup with the stock kernel and still had no luck seeing wifi networks. I "Forgot" the two it was remembering and BAM it repopulated all available networks. whew.

thanks again! dancedroid

Hi guys, I'm sure this has been asked no less than 100 times in this thread, but can anyone please post up a known good 20overclock file for the Droid 1 that gets me a nice, known working ultra low voltage, high performance setting?

I read through some of the tutorials and stuff, but I am not quite ready to edit my own file, as I am still trying to understand vsel values and what makes sense, all focused on the OG Droid.

I will say that just installing deprimed kernel and executing the "prime" command make a hell of a performance difference for me right off the bat. Seat of the pants feeling is "very much more snappy" than the default CM 7 kernel... I've been running CM Nightly Build 108.

... looked like this thread has been "deprimed"............. BWAHAHAHA.

use the milestone oc app to temporarily edit your top slot, mess around with it.
unfortunately there isn't really any known working values that will apply to every droid across the board. especially with ultra low voltage. try looking at the 20overclock and taking each one down 1 or 2 vsels.

Yah, that is what I don't get, why one example file wouldn't apply to more than one Droid 1 phone Aren't they all pretty much built within the same tolerances, or are we dealing with some major hardware variances on CPU, for example, based on build revision?

OK, maybe someone with a Droid 1 can just post up their file, I will try it. I trust your 20overclock will not F up my phone, or I will send Optimus Prime and Rosie Huntington Whiteley to your house for a formal interrogation.

Want to touch?

Since we're on the subject, what about kicking the vsel values UP by the same amount? How much of a difference in voltage (vsel) is there between a ULV and a LV? The only time I'm having any issues with this and all other ULV kernels I've tried is during "heavy multitasking," ie trying to take a picture while running a GPS tracking app... other than that, the deprimed kernel is bomb-proof.

Yeah, I didn't totally get that at first either since any non customizable kernel has a set of vsels associated with it (I guess that's why kernel builders tell you to test a few to see what works). Anyway, the 20overclock inside the attached zip is peaks at 1100 w/ 68 vsel and has been stable for me. I think my old sholes is pretty middle of the road - it would be fine up to 1100 or 1200 on most lv and ulv kernels but on 1250 kernels it tends to **** the bed.

Good luck, standard disclaimer - not my fault if the attached file burns down your house, etc.

Even if you change the clock speed and vsel to levels that your phone absolutely can't handle, all you need do is boot into Recovery and reflash the kernel. I have never heard of anyone frying their Droid with this or any of the stable kernels these hardworking guys put out.

Your phone may just lock up or bootloop. Just pull the battery and hold the X key when you power back on.
