[KERNEL] Kernel (deprimed_test) - Break It If You Can

I haven't forgotten ;)

He just updated it again.
I gave CPUtuner a shot, but it seemed to have more lag and stuttering than with setcpu. I probably didn't have it set up right.

That's HILARIOUS! I just got on to post that i downloaded cpu tuner and dumped set cpu and all the lag went away.

What settings do you have? I'd love to give them a shot and see if I can see improvements. The flexibility of cputuner really impressed me.
Also, in my edit I mentioned cputuner kept increasing my min freq to 450 after I set it multiple times to 250.

I used the stock settings. Im thinking its switching to one of the profiles. I'm still trying to get a hold on it now. Ive got all of the profiles set to bumblebee.

EDIT: the other thing was it didn't like to maintain my min frequency setting of 250Mhz. It kept increasing the min freq to 450. I'm not sure what that was about.

It was a 'feature', fixed in updated release.

I turned off the virtual governors because they were causing lag. After this, the phone was zippy. You may want to try this. I also avoid bumblebee because it doesn't seem to agree with CPUtuner and my phone.

In version 33 Bumblebee is definitely more of a battery hog than OnDemand. Phone seems to run hotter too.

Interesting, I'm glad my ondemand modifications are working out...I was worried I had the sampling math wrong.

My OnDemand has been better too, BumbleBee was fairly laggy and hot, def not as good as OnDemand

Some of this may be app/ROM related. I made no changes to ondemand since my initial fix on deprimed #13 or #14.

Link2SD users, here is a link2sd pre-installation script, it will remove /etc/init.d/05mountsd (mounts to /sd-ext) and replace it with a modified version that mounts (and scans if an issue is detected) the second (ext2/3/4) based SD Card partition using the ext4 driver.

You need to make certain /data/sdext2 exists before flashing the zip/using link2sd...this is a safety measure to prevent any possible mishaps with a previous /data/sdext2 setup.

Link2sd is working fine for me as is. Knowing that, will flashing your pre-installation script benefit me in any way or should I just leave it alone?

It may be working fine but if you check you will see that /dev/block/mmcblk0p2 will be mounted twice, once to /sd-ext and once to /data/sdext2

Also the ext2/3 drivers have been known to cause higher CPU usage.

Ok, sounds good. Downloading now. My second question is can I just install this as-is since I have Link2sd installed and working? Or should I uninstall and start from scratch?

Edit: And do I flash this through recovery? Do I have to remove the existing 11link2sd file?

What's your opinion of link2sd? Do you keep an inordinate amount of apps or have you noticed benefits other than the increased storage?

I've only recently considered setting up an sd partition for apps, but opinion seems split so I haven't taken the plunge.

Re-download again from the same link, I updated the routine to remove /etc/init.d/11link2sd as well.

The zip also includes a script that raises the default sd card cache from 128 Kilobytes to 3 Megabytes, it speeds up the sd card substantially.

If your already using a method to change the cache please remove it.

Increased storage is the only real benefit I've noticed.
