Could be worse, that ugly ass "gold" plating that was on my original Droid peeled off leaving white plastic behind

Yeah, I noticed mine within a week of getting it. Its slowly chipping away, but its no big deal as it seems to be some kind of protective layer. Protecting what, I have no clue, as it doesn't have seem to be discolored at all once it has chipped away. Almost seems pointless to have it on there. Eventually I'll probably go and chip it away on my own.

Same here. I was also thinking of drilling 2 or 3 small holes in the kickstand on the right hand side that is directly over the speaker, so that media sounds better when the kickstand is closed.

I say send a report via 611 and email to Vzw of this issue. Now this is not for the purpose of a new phone. This is to document the issue so if you ever need to exchange your device they don't try to charge you claiming neglect.

Mine too....just like with the OG Droid the gold on the camera button peeled. What matters the most to me is that I haven't had any reboots or GPS problems so I can deal with the peeling kickstand.
I bought mine slightly used, and it was peeling on the very end (this was literally the ONLY defect with the phone). It kind of annoyed me, so I used two different kinds of fine sandpaper to buff it off, and then polished the metal. It did wind up taking the Google lettering off, but I didn't really care about that. It looks better now that it's one uniform color.
I actually really would prefer to just remove the kickstand, but I can't quite figure out how to get it out of there, nor can I figure out where it really comes out of and how to get at it.
