Kickstand peeling

I bought mine slightly used, and it was peeling on the very end (this was literally the ONLY defect with the phone). It kind of annoyed me, so I used two different kinds of fine sandpaper to buff it off, and then polished the metal. It did wind up taking the Google lettering off, but I didn't really care about that. It looks better now that it's one uniform color.

I actually really would prefer to just remove the kickstand, but I can't quite figure out how to get it out of there, nor can I figure out where it really comes out of and how to get at it.

to remove it you need to open up the phone thus voiding your warranty if you didnt already

i might sandpaper mine tho..thats a good diea. it came out good?

I technically already voided the warranty by rooting it. I'm not really too worried about that, as I wouldn't take it apart unless I knew 100% what I was doing. I took out the six screws that I could see, but wasn't sure how to start prying stuff apart, so I put it all back together and got out the sandpaper.

Yeah, it's not a "smooth" finish, but if you sand in one direction, it looks pretty good. That was the only way I could figure out how to scratch off the coating efficiently.

Really? The only way?

My thumb's fingernail seems to be working just fine.... In no rush to get it done, but if I want to chip a little at a time, it works just fine

Found the video. I definitely won't be removing the kickstand ... it's easy to take apart, but I have a feeling once I put it back together again, it wouldn't feel as securely together. Oh well.

Yeah but you can unvoid your warranty when rooting but you cant if you open the device since you will break the seals.

Show some pics of your sanded kick stand

Efficiently was the key word there. I obviously could have picked away at it a little at a time.

i actually sandpaperd mine today. i like it a lot better now, looks nicer. the only hard part on this is trying not to sandpaper your phone otherwise itll sctrach it hah. i did a good job tho

It's not really THAT annoying to me. It's barely noticeable. It's just on the edge that you lift it from. Meh, its a phone. It will have much worse done to it I'm sure by the time I'm up for a new one. :-)

That was the only thing that worried me, but I was able to sand it down and didn't nick the case at all. Would have sucked, trying to fix one problem and creating another instead.

Mine has been peeling since the first week also. It doesn't bother me nearly as much as the amount of dust and crap that gets inside the speaker. That is of far larger concern than the clear on the kickstand coming off.

I really hope you folks aren't talking about the plastic skin that shipped on it....which I removed the first day..cause I've been sitting here scratching at mine and im not seeing anything.
