I'm squirrelly too...I actually like to feed them... My dad taught me sit on a park bench and to put one peanut in its shell on my shoulder as far away from my neck as possible. Relax your shoulders and sit as still as possible - they will jump up on the vertical top part of the bench and gently grab the peanut and run off to eat it. It's important not to make noise or frighten the squirrel while it is reaching for the nut. If the squirrel gets scared or if you jump or scream when he's reaching for the nut, he might bite or grab onto your ear lobe for balance. When I was really little, I was bitten by one because a dog barked at me while the squirrel was reaching for the peanut. That was a bummer because my Mom wouldn't let me do it any more. Nothing happened to me from the bite and nobody was afraid that every wild animal was rabid then either( this was in the 50's). I've fed them now and then once I was older, and never got bitten but I was more cautious with my kids when they were little because, now you'd get accused of child abuse if your kid was bitten by a"wild" animal...Watch him...he's squirrelly
