Boy-oh-boy, I think Murphy's law just kicked into overdrive. SoCal Edison replaced my electronic meter because it wasn't communicating with the mother ship. Dude busted my electric panel. Now I have to hire an Edison approved electrician to remedy their screw up. There's 10K and 2 weeks without power.
Yeah, that's not right lloydstrans. SoCal Edison should repair & replace the damage they caused. I would fight that for every penny it's worth. Sorry you have to deal with such craziness.

I would think they had minions that dealt with these types of problems. Everyone that works for them is a private contractor. I'm quite sure at the end of the day I'll get my fingers on his bond. Thing is I'm sure I'll have to eat the cost of an "upgrade" for replacement of a 40 year old panel. Everyone should know the wear out in time. [emoji3] When they installed the smart meter, the one that quit working, that dude unplugged the old one just fine. I will be taking aim at the antenna they installed out front to relay this crap. If I was energetic I'd climb their pole and steal it.
Maybe you could call up the troubleshooter on the local TV station and see if they'll look into it. They love to go after those guys. Take lots of pictures, write down your facts so you don't forget dates and times.. Keep all your paperwork and call them up (or a lawyer to help) ... Sorry you're dealing with this mess right now...I hope it works out in your favor.

Good point about the panel being over 40 years old, but as a contractor myself I take pride in my work, and if something is damaged, we work things out.
Unfortunately my feelings about the utilities and their workman is muddled by my impressions of working with the "Union trades" and their opinion of elitist attitude... They've got good guys, but lots of losers mess up the ranks.
