LauncherPro Beta (SUPER FAST & SMOOTH Launcher!)

I haven't noticed the stock launcher to be slow. I don't understand the desire for a faster launcher.

The speed is just one feature. It also allows you to have up to 7 screens, hide the notification bar and icon titles, dock four shortcuts at the bottom so they appear on home screens, have a 4x5 set up (five rows on every screen as opposed to 4), and put 5 columns in the app tray. They are other nice features as well, but these are the main ones for me...:D

check out launcherpro.com for a full feature list.

Some people feel the need....the need for speed.

Personally it's more about the features these home replacements bring rather than any speed increase....but of course snappy and lag-free are required.

I love launcher pro, the only things I really want from it now is...

I wish that even if the notification bar is hidden you could still pull it down to check things

and also a way to hide/show the dock.

I'd love an empty home screen sooooo much.....

You can't pull it down, but press the 'menu' button on your Droid and it should show up. At that point, you can drag down if you want.

That is, assuming you updated to 0.4.2, that is.

Crazy to think this is still a Beta

You'll notice how slow it is after you use LauncherPro for a while and then go back to the stock one.

And the speed is great but if this was a stock launcher with speed and nothing else, it wouldn't be as popular. The dev has been really great and added a lot of other features that make it excellent. The speed is just a bonus, an EXCELLENT bonus.

I love the close pinch multi-touch to see all of your available screens instead of hitting the home button (Which you can still do if that's your preference)

yeah, I don't wanna have to push the menu button, have the sub menu at the bottom and the notification bar pop up. then again, I wish for these things and a few days later launcherpro updates and then I have them. its creepy in the best of ways.

yeah I would also like to be able to hide the notification bar but also pull it down when I want to check notifications. Maybe just a little tab at the top, that by touching it would bring up the notification bar, then from there we could pull it down.

I tried out Sweeter Home 2 (from their website) just to see other different replacements and holy crap dude. It sucks. I mean it wasn't a bad style but it was laggy and everything, all get out. I understand it's still being worked on but it still got good reviews from people. Which is why i checked it out in the first place.
Oh and I tried out my helix 1 and 2 and the launcher that are still on my phone. Just can't beat the Pro eh!

and making it hide your notification bar, hide the names of the apps on the homescreens, and in the preferences make a whole extra row on your homescreen is so awesome!

At this point if you press Home when you are already at your main screen then it WILL pop up the previews. No way around that. But that option mentioned will stop it from doing it on your other screens.

thats what I thought.. thank you
