LauncherPro Beta (SUPER FAST & SMOOTH Launcher!)

Didn't work. I can choose the launcher pro icon (white faded), the normal handcent blue icon, or one from my gallery.

I want the themed messaging icon to open to handcent like browser can open to xscope by setting it to default

I think you are misunderstanding him...

On you "home bar" long press the icon
It should then prompt "Select Shortcut"
Select Applications -> Then scroll to "Handcent SMS" and select
It should then prompt "Choose Icon"
Select "LauncherPro icons" -> Scroll to messaging icon and select

I have the "default" messaging icon on my home bar and it opens handcent

to change the system defaults to where it asks you which you want you have to clear the settings in "Menu Button" -> "Settings" -> "Applications" -> "Messaging" then it should ask you but that still wont change it from opening up "Messaging" if you have the Messaging application shortcut in your home bar directly selecting it will override the system default settings just like xscope if you want to you can still open the built-in browser
No I understood him, I think you guys misunderstood my original post. With the new clean dark theme for froyo, the standard messaging app on the droid has been themed black for the theme. I would like this black, themed, messaging app on my dock (leading to handcent, not the messaging app), not the grey messaging icon that comes with launcher pro

LOLz I think I understand what he's saying, He wants to use the "Clean Black themed Messaging Icon" for handcent. Icons are basically just img files. You can try and open up the app on your computer to extract the icon image and just use that to change the handcent icon via launcher Pro. Or you can message bgill55 to see if he can just give you the image for the icon.

BTW. I think your misunderstanding how it the whole app linking thing works. It doesn't work that way for apps, you can't link one app to another one. App linking only works when a dev codes a shortcut to execute a "default app". For instance in Launcher Pro the messaging shortcut is set to bring up the "default messaging app". You can't do that with the themed "clean black" messaging app because it's not a shortcut that calls up the "default messaging app," it's the app "itself". So it's coded to execute itself. Get it? lol

So are we able to change the shortcuts yet?

I would use this except for the lack of that. I see no reason for phone AND contacts to be on the shortcuts. Phone, MMS, Web, and Email and I'm in.

We've been able to change the shortcuts for quite a while now on LauncherPro.

You can change these four shortcuts to whatever shortcut you would like.

Just press and hold on the one(s) you want to change and the "Select Shortcut" screen appears.

Mine are set to Phone, Direct Contact (a specific person), Google Voice, and Touchdown.

with the extra rows, i dont need a 4th screen.

if only you could change the colors of the highlighted when touched items.
the yellow/orange clashes.

Can u post that wallpaper I like it alot please
if you go to the gallery, and search for "smoke" you will find it. there is a color variation also.

Is there any way to make a short for Call Log instead of the phone keyboard?

I'd suggest using Dialer One as your dialer, and set the Dialer One startup screen to show both the phone keyboard (on the bottom half) and call log (on the top half). Otherwise, there's an app in the market that will take you to the stock call log -- not sure what it's called though.

Just installed it. Live wallpapers work... I found support for Application organizer and switched the 4 "quick dock" icons to my south Park characters. So far no problems I have been using Helix launcher but this might end up in first place.

Another minor update, here’s what’s new:

  • In 0.4.3, I increased the scrolling speed a bit which caused a bit of lag for some users. I’ve set it back to the way it was before. Will add an option to choose scrolling speed soon.
  • Improved the code for the Nexus One dots. They should perform a bit better.
  • New Elastic scrolling option: this lets you enable or disable the elastic or “bounce back” effect when scrolling through homescreens. (Advanced settings)
  • New app drawer opening speed option: Here you can tweak the speed of the opening/closing effect for the app drawer. Zero is the slowest, 10 makes it appear/disappear instantly. (Advanced settings)

Another recommendation for Dialer One here. You can set that option, plus there are lots of other reasons it is better than the stock dialer. I missed having speedials (assign contact to long-pressing of a dialpad digit) and this gives you that back too.

when I mount stuff to my sd card.. where do I go to open it?

your post doesn't even make sense. "mount" is the process of making a drive accessible to a computer (or phone). So you can "mount" an SD card - but you can't mount "stuff". Perhaps you mean that you copied stuff to your SD card? From where? What stuff? What do you want to do with the stuff?

Also, this post doesn't belong in this thread - the SD card and the process of putting "stuff" on it really has nothing to do with Launcher Pro.

I had 4.3 version of launcher pro.. I put it in my download folder.. I forget now where to go, so I can install the new version ON my phone. On my ally, launcherpro doesn't come up in market, so I have to do manual downloads to comp then put it on sd card, then open it in my phone. I forget where to open it in my phone.. can you help with that?

So yes, in relative terms, it is for launcher pro... I just explained myself better.

EDIT: apk installer, forgot that's what I needed to open it. Figured it out.

Ah, got it.

You need a file browser or some kind - I use Linda File Manager, a lot of people use Astro, but they might not be available on your ally, either. You can try an Ally forum instead if the specifics are different. Once you have some kind of file browser, look for /sdcard (at least, that's where it is on the Droid. It might be different on an Ally).

Alternatively - you could just download it directly with the phone - then you can install it right from the Downloads list in the browser.
