ok so FRG22 works great, it is a little faster than the OTA, but alas my ESPN Radio app is not in the market!! Back to BB 0.4.

lol…it's the nature of the beast. We aren't sure when update will be resumed but last I heard it was one week.

xpezdj,,,,

I don't know where you can get it today, i got it yesterday. It was thought it might get taken down so i grabbed it! If someone was to post it to a file share site ppl could get it there i think.

i also went and got the flash download too because ppl were having trouble.
thanks to this forum i knew to do that. i am a lurker by nature........lol

sorry i could not help you more

Just followed all the great guides on this forum, now rooted and running this latest build of FroYo! Couldn't be more satisfied with the simplicity of it all. Now what to do with my "new" Droid :D

I'm still on the fence. FB back to 1.2, watching it... I can agree it may be a kernal thing too, I wasn't using the FB widget, but its process was always running.

I hate internal memory loss, would love to figure that one out...

man the battery life is pretty bad, i'm getting about 50% less battery life with FRG22 than in the previous FRG01b

So is it time yet for a "FRG22 x FB update" poll yet? Collect some data and see what the user experience is?

Okie dokie...

Been running G22 all day so far. Running the Odexed version, with Chevy's Medium Voltage 1.25GHz 7-slot kernel, 01P baseband, ADW. Came from 01G, wiped Cache only. No problem with voice search, no problem with Goggles, no problems with anything that I can see so far.

There's a continuing video issue in Froyo 2.2 related to trying to watch movies that were encoded using proprietary codecs and that were previously supported in Eclair 2.1, but I think now that that is a policy change and I'm not expecting to see that fixed any official releases (just like Ubuntu).

I'll throw this out there related to battery usage... I recommend the opposite approach that most people take with choosing what voltage kernel to use. I recommend starting with the medium or standard voltage. If you are still getting boot loops at high speed with one of these kernels, you know you're just running too fast. These machines were tested at standard voltage, not low or ultra low voltage, so they are bound to be more stable at standard voltage. Why test multiple variables when you could just test one...

You may get worse battery life with a low or ultra low voltage kernel, depending on how your Droid runs. This has been my experience -- I've been Chevy's medium voltage 1.25 kernel (8/1/10) under various ROMs including G22 and my droid has been running smoother *and with better battery life* than ever with it. I'm sure P3's standard voltage kernels will also do extremely well. But why punch out of standard voltage when you don't now if your Droid will even work with it???

Just my 2cents...

Good luck to all ROMmers, and many thanks to P3, CZ and everyone else involved with providing all these great options to us!!!!

That's a nice write up dwoid...

I think most try the LV's because you keep the heat down that way first, and if everything runs ok, then ...

How would upping my voltage to the standard increase my batt life if I'm running ok with no issues other than batt life on LV?

For everyone: I just spoke with P3, he will check google goggles when he returns home (I'm thinking it may need a tweak to the deodex that voice needed), so when he finds out later, we may have that corrected as well, or we'll know what is up.

We really need to let the man rest :)

Thanks, and yes, if you're running OK now at your desired speed with LV or ULV, that's great and I wouldn't change anything...

But if you're just starting out trying to find the right kernel, I'd recommend *starting* with standard voltage so you can see what speed your Droid will successfully run at. It'll be painfully obvious if you're running too fast, you won't be able to keep from the boot loops.

From a generic standpoint, you know the kernels that originally come with the leaked ROMs are using standard voltage. That's one of the reasons why they are so stable.

On my Droid, I got a lot of wierd instability (FCs, timeouts, etc...) with lower powered kernels. I also got less than desirable battery life and higher temps. That all disappeared when I moved to standard voltage, even at higher CPU speeds.

From my experience so far I strongly suspect that the odexed version doesn't have these problems. That's what I'm running and everything that people have been talking about is working fine for me. (I don't run the Facebook app, so i don't know about that.)

I'd like to send a big thanks to P3, CZ and everyone else involved with getting these updates to us so regularly. They are a big reason I love my Droid.

Just a note: If everyone exercise safe ROMming and do their backups regularly, there would be a lot less concern about which ROM is the "right one". If it doesn't do what you want it to do, all you have to do is restore a backup.

Between market updates and ROM tweaks, I probably do about 3 to 6 backups a day. I'm real safe dancedroid

I'm loving life right now, thanks to this release! I wasn't pushed the FRG01B update, so I was still running Eclair before today. I rooted my Droid about a week ago, and I didn't have the best of luck with custom ROMS. This'll definitely keep me occupied for a bit!
