Leaked FRG22 Update Available for Rooted Droid 1

anyone experiencing slow drawing of the home screen at random? and/or random instances in which the home screen transitions are slow to respond?
First 24 hours--other than the FB fiasco--Launcher Pro was running great. But yesterday afternoon I impulsively installed a bunch of new apps, and started having slow redraws. I rebooted and it's back to fast.

No random draws of the home screen.

thanks for your input. guess i should have added more details. i'm using the stock launcher. it's been 3 days or so since i installed this rom.

there are times when i'll hit the home key from the browser, gtalk, or texting and the home screen will show up blank. takes about 5-10 secs for the OS to draw the icons and widgets. other times, the home screen icons and widgets will appear immediately but it will take 2-3 swipes before the OS responds and transitions.

i only wiped data once and only rebooted once since the install. guess i'll try a couple more reboots and if that doesn't help, i'll start fresh after wiping the phone 3 times.

You don't have Spare Parts, do you? I don't remember if it was this thread or a related one, but some other users have noticed that playing with the settings in Spare Parts (re: screen animations) has a big effect. I've set mine to "fast" (which is ironic...this seemed like a problem for others) but wow no redraw problems atm.

Redraws like that happen. Try a different launcher and see if it's a problem with your phone or the stock launcher itself. ADW Launcher is a very good replacement and seems to be not only very customizable but very stable.

I was stock 2.1
I did the FRG01B "official leak"2.2
Then I rooted with the easy root program.
so now I am FRG01B with superuser ninja.
Can I just install like the FRG22 the same way or do I have to use the clockwork or SPrecovery method?

this is my first toe dip into the pool of rooting and I'm not too sure I want all the custom Roms as I rather like the stock experience.
I just want the latest OS. wifi tether would be cool (but is the program really $8.95) and the overclocking may or may not be for me..battery life is important to me.

if this is the wrong thread please mods move me to the appropriate spot

Stupid question but..You have to download all 3 and put them on the sd card, correct?

dude you don't have to Download all of them..just one. and then upgrade your rom. The 2nd one is what most say working with the voice search feature

I've been following this thread since the beginning, but wonder if I missed it: why exactly did the initial leak get replaced? It's probably not good practice to have different versions of the leak on the OP, and it'd also be nice if someone could update it to indicate why the original version was updated (we're all finding app minor issues by trial and error, like Goggles).

It's virtually the same thing, only one's been deodexed, one hasn't, and one has had one file in particular deodexed again to fix the voice search feature that was broken in the initial version when it was deodexed. Deodexing allows further modification (and themes), so most people who would want this would want that as well. The original deodexed version is around in case people have problems with the second version and need it.

But yeah, it should be clearer in the OP. :)

FRG22 impressions:

Very snappy and smooth,
Created folders no longer lose content (mine had been doing that since I first installed Froyo),
Best of all: BATTERY LIFE! OMG it's going on day 2 and I still have 40%
It's a keeper for sure.

Out of curiosity, how is your phone setup to achieve that battery life (theme, kernel, baseband, etc.)?

Nothing installed but the bare basic FRG22. Back to stock; installed this latest 2.2 version, and now no Bugless Beast / OC roms or any other basebands.

Not touching a thing. :)
hope this helps!
