Lenovo and Motorola Announce the Moto Z and Moto Z Force (with Droid Editions!)

I imaging the Same way the Power Pack Supplies Power to the Phone, if the Pack supports Wireless Charging then it would have to be all done together. This would probably take a Will to Charge Wirelessly unless there is a Fast Wireless Charge Option

I thinking the whole module thing is the new wave of the future. LG G5 has it and now these. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Seems like a pain to lug around all these modules in case you need to use them. Maybe I'm missing something but it reminds me of an old Atari cartridge system....and yes I'm old. LOL

Or a Gameboy!

You bring up a great point though. I think the module thing is a cool idea, but I haven't really thought about the practicality of carrying them around. "What's in your backpack sir?" "My phone accessories." "But the backpack is obviously completely full. What else is in there." "Seriously, JUST my phone accessories."

I can see myself only needing the JBL Speaker. That battery should be good enough in the Force for me coming from a Droid Turbo. Maybe the projector but i feel that will be at a price point that will be out of my "Need" Budget. I am looking at a speaker now so if i wait this can solve both options. Only downside is i case walk around the room with my phone to change music like a seperate speaker.

I guess I am on the fence with the practicality point of these. I think the idea is awesome though, and can see this maybe (emphasis on maybe) changing the cell phone market for future phones. I think it's like battery packs, a few years ago how many people bought & carried battery packs? Now, they are on sale and posted here all the time. How many of us carry one now? I know I have one in my work backpack at all times, just in case. I would simply replace the Anker battery pack in my bag now with a Moto Mod battery snap-on. If I knew i was going to be somewhere and wanted to listen to music, I would snap on the JBL speaker Mod before I left the house; it doesn't look very bulky but would have to see it in person to be sure. I can see carrying all three Mods at once a bit bulky and cumbersome; carrying what you want each day (or snapping them on) may be a better way?

I would like to see the specs for the JBL speaker. I wonder how it affects the thickness. I am use to phones with Otterbox Defenders adding bulk. If its somewhat comparable id leave it on. I wonder if it provides additional power to phone to. If so then i have my battery pack too.

Yeah. My concern would be more of a "I spent all this money on these mods, but I don't want to lug them all around. I'm going to a friend's house for a get together and think I just need my battery pack. No sense in bringing the projector." and then finding myself in a situation where it sure would've been nice to have had the projector to share some pictures of video on a wall instead of people crowding around a phone.

I have no need for the modules. I have a nice BT speaker. I have a DSLR camera. An Anker in my car for the 5 or 6 times a year I might need it (it got used a lot on my Razr HD).
But I can see how this stuff would be handy for others.

I will simply continue to support the SD card companies. Never again will I own a SD card-less phone.
So my next phone (in 18 months...sigh...) will be LG or Moto.
Probably Moto. I am not "brand loyal" but until someone else makes a shatterproof screen....

I do LOVE that Moto/Leno beat Apple here. All the rumors are "Apple ditching headphone jack on the 7"... ha!

I agree on the microsd support. My 32gb Note 5 was too small but my 64gb Droid Turbo is not bad. I want a 64gb internal with microsd support though going forward.

I was thinking a little more forward, though I too am old enough to remember what you speak of. I was thinking of the LG Versa that conceptually was a great idea but it never was realized because the add ons never materialized and it actually took a step backward spec wise from its predecessor, the Dare.
As I wrote about the G5, perhaps the market is ready for modules as a choice now. The Neptune smartwatch, the G5 and now this seem to point toward someone thinks it is.

I just remembered that during the press conference, he said the Moto Mod battery pack could be charged wirelessly. So maybe the phone itself cannot, but if the battery pack Mod is attached the whole thing can be put on a wireless charger and charged?

Samsung has had a similar feature for a few years now, before it became standard on the S6. Even though the Galaxy S3,4 & 5 didn't come with wireless charging out of the box, you could replace the backplate on all three devices, or purchase a third party wireless coil to place behind your stock backplate, to give you wireless charging capabilities.
So it's certainly possible to add wireless charging to a device through the backplate.

I'd rather have quick charging than wireless charging. My MAXX would take forever to charge with wireless. 6P in 15 minutes I have plenty of juice to last me hours.

Me too, and this beast will have quick charge / turbo charge, whatever they re going to call it. I can almost guarantee that Moto (or a 3rd party) will make a back plate snap on that supports wireless charging. It is nice to have for some folks.

Wireless Charging makes my Turbo get so hot. Using the QC is so much faster.
