Letter To Android Community and DF - From Blackdroid

ok guys.........lets take this for what it is. I know first hand BlackDroid this took a lot to post. I think the team here at DF can appreciate that. For everyone else let's move the android community forward.

In a follow up BlackDroid has also set the return of Df's N1 this week and has lived up to his agreements now. I wish BD well in his journey.

Kingtee lets keep in mind this is a formal apology not a rehash. Please no flaming. Just because some people (including myself) don't understand a lot of the coding terminology doesn't make them "brain dead".

As far as waiting on a response please give him more than an hour (someone had a fit he didn't respond to them quickly enough yesterday). I went into his IRC this morning at 6 and he was just going to bed.

Corina i respect and understand were you are coming from. I just want the correct information to be out there. I just cant stand when misinformation is being spread. I apologize if it inflames anything. People just don't wanna hear the truth anymore. I guess they like smoke being blown up their behind.

not only to support corina, but also coming from my own -not buying this- point of view, this thread was surely not made to heat up old "love"...and argue again. BD just aplologizes....and tries to do what he sees as "the right thing" .....

So, lets not argue about everything he states...

Understood Rintintigger. Not directed towards you---> The funny thing is that i don't run cyanogen on my phone but i figured that people would think i do. I'm running Pete's BB at the moment, but i'm not some blind loyal fanboy. I've just been around since cyanogen got started making roms for the G-1 and i was one of the first to run his roms. Ive seen the progress that Rom making has made and i just want to see credit giving correctly thats all.

It seems many people here are still sore about how things were originally handled. At this point, Blackdroid just wanted to say sorry for how things went and try to move on. This is all people were asking for to begin with. Everyone wanted him to give credit where it was due, and for him to say sorry. He gave credit, and he said sorry. Why is there still flaming?

If the credit wasn't given 100% correctly, why do you not just PM the guy and tell him how it could be corrected instead of trying to ignite another flame war? I am sure he doesn't want more flames, and I am sure these forums would like to not play host to another flame war.

You have to also understand, that while you said it was basically too late for an apology, he didn't have to do this. Nobody was really crying for him to say sorry any longer. He did it when it was no longer necessary. People need to move on and move along.

Use his ROM or don't, but lets cease with all the flaming all the time. If we jump down a guys throat every time they post here, we are no better then what formerly was known as AllDroid.

Thank you for the apology, Blackdroid. I will now once again look into using your ROMs.

BD-well written. I know nothing about coding, can barely load ROM's, but I feel what you wrote was from the heart, and I hope the hatchet is buried.

You said this much better than I could. Thanks for basically saying everything I tried to say too, but you put it into words much better than me.

And, if this turns into a flaming thread, it will be closed, and if people cannot respect this is not a flaming thread, they will have to be dealt with because they've been asked several times to understand they need to take up personal gripes with BD himself, not here on the apology thread.

Never used :blackdroid:'s ROMs or anything, but I might hop over from BB to see how it is. idk if it'll be as fast because pete's ROM is quite the speeder. But idk that, I'm curious what BD is all about, and with this New Era thing going on.

In the mods area, where you guys can't see what's going on I looked very hard at this apology. I'm not an expert on ROM's but I feel TheBlackDroid has done everything he can to make an apology. To expect anything more is ludicrous. He doesn't have to apologize for his mother giving birth to him. He seems to be somewhat of a shy, introverted person who has had a tough time coming up with the right words to say. I think he has given credit where it is due but more importantly he has apologized to DF and the staff here.

Being a mod through this period has been extremely difficult, and I'll tell you I was very upset with Blackdroid. Not only about hiding his sources but allowing us to get in the trenches and literally fight a war on his behalf. We took some hard hits, had to look at the facts then do a total 180 on our position because he didn't admit to certain things. Now he is formally admitting to them. I'm not a BD fanboy, I don't even use any ROM's but I've seen a couple of apologies sent previously and this is as good as it's going to get.

It's been a personal thorn in my side anytime it's brought up. So last night when I read his apology I said I forgive him. I want this to be over, I want the DF members, to forgive him and I want the other Dev's to forgive him too. This is necessary for the entire Android community, not just for Droid Forums.

So please, let's stay away from flaming. You're allowed to speak your mind but I want everyone to think before they push the button to send the post. Is my post in the best interest of the Android Community? If it's calling BD out and trying to rip him then I guarantee you it's not.

Good luck to BlackDroid and all the Dev's. Keep up your wonderful work and keep the love of what you do as your primary incentive. This will take you where you want to go in the Android Community.

I'm satisfied. Thanks for posting blackdroid. I always liked Ultimate Droid, I just didn't care for the 100+ pages of fix-it threads that followed every release, which was quite frequent. Twice in fact, I flamed you releasing half-baked ROMs (my opinion), and those posts were promptly deleted. The ROM quality has improved, the credit is being given properly, and no one could ask for more of an apology.

If there are still issues with credit, they can be addressed without flaming. I think we should all accept the apology, and in fact, give blackdroid some credit for the hard work he does to make everyone else happy. All the developers work hard on their ROMs and blackdroid is no exception.

I will end my self imposed boycott of UltimateDroid, and I will forgive and forget. I encourage others to do the same.

Thank you Blackdroid for your apology and thank you Mods for allowing this thread. I've probably run almost every ROM out there at one time or another. I like them all, and respect the work that goes into them. BD is "manning-up" and "taking his medicine" for what he did. To belittle him for his apology "not being adequate" seems more wrong than anything he may or may not have done to start this whole episode. Either accept his apology or don't accept it, but at least acknowledge the effort. How many of us would be capable and willing to step up on a huge public forum like this and take the heat some users are obviously "dying" to dish out?

I respect him for his apology. He didn't have to do that. He has his own site now, and hopefully, his forum here will re-open. The more access we users have to choices in ROM's, the better it is for the entire android community.

Having worked in a software development environment for many years, I've learned that the more minds you put on a problem the better the solutions are that come from the collaboration. Studying how someone else addressed an issue can lead to a whole new mindset on other solutions to the issues.

Flaming posts you don't like is like burning books. All it does is drive the authors underground and stifle the growth process. Remember, the internet is like your television. If you don't like what's on it, change the channel or turn it off.

I for one am glad he apoligized. i feel better about using his roms.. they are smooth and my phone likes them.. thank you for the apology now we can move on
