Liberty Toolbox [Official Thread]

I can't seem to get answers from anyone. Can someone please explain the differences to a newb like me:

What's the difference between 2.0.1 and the GB versions (spec. .4/.5)?
What are the advantages/disadvantages?

I just installed GB .4 from 2.0.1 and I'm trying to decide whether I should go ahead and install .5 or whether I should SBF and reinstall 2.0.1 (I like the themes) but no one can seem to tell me what the differences, advantages, and disadvantages there are between the three.

he;lp

2.0.1 has themes, facebook contact sync, and NO HDMI support, also no blur.

The GB versions have some blur, NO facebook sync, HAVE HDMI support, but also have various bugs which you will come to find.

The only thing keeping me from sbfing back to 2.0.1 is im lazy, I enjoy HDMI even though I almost never use it, and the screen off CRT-TV animation blows my mind. Its so sexy

So I ended up SBF'ing back to Froyo, updating to 2.0.1 Liberty and then trying out Gingercomb Juiced and OreoSlice. I'm having problems with tons of force closes and reboots on random apps (musics, ringtones at firce, with constant force closes for something called .com.media or something). That's when I switched from HCJ to Oreo Slice and now I'm having problems with other programs (for instance my alarm clock was set but never went off, was still set this morning but force closes every time I try to open it). There are only two reasons I can think of: Something screwed up with the rom, or I messed something up major when I was transferring audio files from my computer via usb and the usb slipped out mid-transfer.

Thoughts?

Try running Fix Permissions from the Toolbox->Liberty Tweaks->Misc. Other things to try might be clearing data for any music/media related apps listed under applications.

Other options are reinstalling 2.0.1 without wiping or if you really want to get a fresh start reinstall 2.0.1 and wipe data/cache/dalvic then try your themes again.

just a quick question. beginning yesterday, when i would go into the Nightlies section of my Liberty Toolbox Donate it would prompt me to Please update this app. Everytime I would update it, the same thing would happen. Am I doing something wrong? Is is possible that because I am GB v.05 that it isnt displaying anything? Everything else seems to be in working order, just not the nightlies section.

I've noticed the same thing the past few days. I was previously on v0.5, but have since SBF'd back to Froyo and applied GB .596.

I installed Liberty Toolbox Donate again, and the FIRST time after installing, accessing the Nightlies section shows me options for v0.1 through v0.3. Repeated clicks of the Menu -> Reload List button simply refreshes the v0.1 through v0.3 list.

Somewhat 'randomly', and even then only after either clearing the app's data or uninstalling/reinstalling, if I go into Nightlies (shown v0.1 through v0.3 options), exit Nightlies, then go back into it again, I'll be shown the newer v0.4 and v0.5 options. However, most of the time I just repeatedly get the 'Please update this app' message.

If I actually click on the 'Please update this app' message, it brings up a dialog "Download? Do you want to download Please update this app? [Yes/No]".

As a test, I clicked 'Yes', it downloaded 'Please update this app', and asked me "Install? Do you want to install Please update this app? [Install Now / Add to Queue / Cancel]". I clicked Install Now, left the checkboxes next to "Backup Current ROM" and "Wipe Data and Cache" unchecked (I have a backup already), then clicked the OK button, and it prompted me with "Install? Press OK to reboot into recovery and install Please update this app".

I clicked the OK button, it rebooted into CWR, quickly "installed" the following (I used my dSLR in burst mode to capture the CWR text):

Liberty Toolbox 2.1.3
Preparing to install Please update this app...

-- Installing: SDCARD:/Liberty/nothing//nothing.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Hello

Install from sdcard complete.

It then rebooted normally, and as you can probably expect, re-accessing the Nightlies section again results in a 'Please update this app' message.

I don't know if this is all b/c I'm running v2.1.3 of the Toolbox Donate while the current version in the Market is now 2.1.6, or if it's really a problem on the other end of the connection.

Jared emailed me v2.1.3 directly a little while back, since I donated to him directly when there was some problem w/ Google Checkout that was preventing me from purchasing ANY paid apps (that problem was fixed by Google, eventually).

Since the Market doesn't think that I actually purchased the app, it doesn't let me update to the latest version. I emailed Jared about this the other day, but assume he is busy getting Liberty ported to .596 and probably won't have a chance to respond to my email for a while.

ive noticed a bug. now im not sure if its with the toolbox or anim mod but whenever i change the animations either with liberty toolbox or anim mod my DX goes back to the orginal liberty wallpaper. i can change it back but as soon as i reboot it will go back to the liberty wallpaper.

Yeah its a known issue. It has something to do with messing with framework files. I just deal with it

If im coming from 2.3.340 and going to flash a ROM for the first time (going to use liberty 2.0.1)

Should I download this toolbox app or is the one that will come with 2.0.1 more updated toolbox?

When you install 2.0.1, you have to wipe everything on your phone, so downloading the toolbox first won't do you any good. If there is an update to the Liberty toolbox that comes with the ROM, you'll find it in the market after the install.

I read that themes are not available for GB Liberty yet, but is there any way of changing the lock screen? (outside of widget locker) I'm not a huge fan of this particular lock screen, and prefer the stock GB slide bar. Also, along the same lines, what about colors? Any way to easily change it away from the yellow? Otherwise, love liberty. :]
