Major battery life problems ICS

Vepaot said:
Back up your app data, contacts, texts, etc. Toss all of that onto either the physical SD Card (sdcard-ext), or onto a computer. Then do a factory data reset, wipe your cache, and then reinstall your apps and all of that jazz.

Poor battery life is a pretty common feature of updating without getting a fresh software start. This should fix most of your problems. I've only played around with ICS builds .2232 and .232 and I can tell you that battery life on .905 Gingerbread was better. The .246 official release may have better life though once you've cleaned your system out. Be sure to let us know how it works for you after that.

Any suggestions for good apps that will back up all the data you listed?

Ill just chime in and say that I was on a very old build, 902 I believe with the Kinect rom. Id had that forever and my battery life was abysmal. Sunday I finally decided to attempt to move to 905 and ICS. I used HOB and then manually installed ICS and my battery has dramatically improved. Yesterday I had it off the charger for 8-9hrs before it was in need of a charge again. Prior to that Id get 4-5hr tops on a charge. So Im pleasantly surprised by the battery life. I use the standard battery too.

I lost root but that was a small price to pay. Ive read that razrs edge will restore root but Ive yet to try that out.

Factory reset i believe did the trick. I tried clearing the cache but it didnt help. However the factory reset seems to have fixed the problem. I will give an update tomorrow

Astro File Manager

Firstly, I want to say thanks for all the suggestions. Fully charging my bionic and I'm going to strip it down (cache, battery stats, factory reset) after backing up my apps. I will post back if I have improved results. Currently, I have an extended battery and all bloatware disabled and I'm still pulling 5hrs max with light use. I've been ready to pull my hair out.

ALSO, great app to back up apps without root- Astro File Manager. I prefer to the stock file manager and it also backs up apps and has other uses. I have had it since my OG Droid and it has never failed me. Hope that helps a little.

I was losing about 10% an hour just on standby, even before the update. I didn't backup apps on purpose before I FDR'd so I could only re download the apps I wanted. My battery life is awesome now.

still bad

droid bionic running Eclipse ICE. in the last couple of days my battery life has crashed. last night it was down to 27% just from sitting there on airplane mode
with some light kindle usage to read. this morning it's down 23% after 20 minutes normal config.

this is on two different stock batteries.

I wiped the Cache. did everything else but a factory reset as I can't afford to take the phone down that long to re-install everything.

any ideas?

Im running stock 4 slot, OC@ 1.2ghz, sd read speed 2048 and SUPERCHARGED.

Only way i can get good standby and normal use on battery. Roms kill my battery especially w/ Eclipse (4hrs normals use, 8 if i dont touch it)

maybe I should try something besides eclipse then. it's gotten worse. full charge last night at 10:00. 2 hours on airplane with kindle then sleep mode until 9:00. powered back up. 27% and then down to 4% with in 15 minutes. I was getting the same kinds of numbers you were. but I HATE stock verizon ICE!! WAAAA!!!!!

my battery life is terrible, I will drop 4-6% in 20 min while just driving not even using it. I am not sure what to do. I do not know if I want to try a factory reset at this point. I might just try wiping the cache
