MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

Since updating to .215 my touch screen responds strangely at times. Especially notable when typing. This happens when three phone is charging. I remember someone else mentioning this. So Is there a fix? Or do i have to wait for the next update?

Clear data ,cache, and force close your home screen app.. you'll need to set up your home screen again.. but it helps.. :)

EDIT: if you're using a charger other than the supplied stock charger.. it may be your issue.. as pointed out below ;) Thanx guys.

The only other thing to add to 94lt1's suggestion is that it could be the charger you are using. If this only happens when it is charging then that might be the likely cuplrit but if it is also happening other time then maybe not. Are you using the stock charger. It is highly recommended that you use the stock charger. If you do use other chargers (which, I am guilty... I do on occassion), be careful to make sure it does work okay.

My screen acts funny on occasion while im using other chargers, the home screen wouldn't respond... i couldn't put in my screen pattern etc. This happened on GB too.

Also, could anyone point me in the direction of a list of processes and programs i can safely disable? Preferably up to date with ics.

It seems pretty random. I've already done an fdr and cache clear recently. I do have several chargers. One is stock and a couple are from my lg. They seem to work fine, but I'll double check next time my screen is acting up. Maybe I'll just use the stock one and see if it still happens. Sometimes it doesn't act up when it's charging. Like i said it's random, just once in a while even on the non stock charger

Josh, it may be "connected to the charger" but whether it's actually "charging" is another thing. If the battery icon has a Lightning bolt on it, it's charging...no Lightning bolt, not charging.

Also, the stock charger does inhibit the screen responsiveness a tiny bit, but no where near what third party chargers impart into it...which just goes to prove something I've said all along. CLEAN power from the charger is BEST for your phone, the cleaner, the better. DIRTY power causes STRESS on the components, WASTES power, causes excessive HEATING of components and will SHORTEN the life of the phone by jeopardizing various board-level components and risking early failure.

If the screen acts up with a charger connected, there's only ONE reason...dirty power. It may be remnants of the 110VAC line current (ripple left over from the alternating current conversion to direct current and further filtering of the ripple), or it may be Radio Frequency Interference, which is picked up by poorly shielded power cables, and at times can even be imparted into the power coming from the charger by the actual circuitry meant to smooth out and change the AC to DC.

All you have to do is open two chargers, one from Motorola and one from another manufacturer and you'll see just how much MORE circuitry is in the Motorola one, and how much higher quality the components and cables are, to know why it's best to "stick with stock".

I understand that there are low quality generic chargers, but i assume lg makes fairly decent chargers for their smartphones as well as a connon camera charger i use at work. It just seems wasteful to throw out my good chargers from previous phones. What is your take on genuine stock chargers from other brands?

If I may....
Some manufacturers may have additional filtering in the phone and not need to do it all in the charger. The RAZR in so thin..there is no place to add anything else into the phone. However, this is just a theory.
I use the factory charger and USB cable from my droid2. Works great.

I do use other chargers. Without a doubt it is best to use the stock charger and to do use another one is at your own risk. I am very careful to know which ones work and which don't and there are only a select other ones I use that I know have not given me any problems. Basically, that is what you would want to do... if you use another charger, look to see that it is charging and use the phone to make sure it does not do anythng glitchy. If either of those things don't work, put the charger in your junk drawer and save it to give to someone who might need one.

I got a new wall charger when I got my Maxx, but when I was on my road trip I used the car charger that I have had since my Droid 2, since they are all the same micro USB.

It seemed to work fine

That's basically what I've been doing. I wouldn't hook anything to my baby i thought was frying it. And foxkat confirmed that even the stock charger can cause some small touch screen issues. That's the only negative I've noticed with my lg chargers.

Great question, and RJ (below) does bring up one interesting theory. I am in agreement that Samsung, LG, Apple, Motorola, Nokia and a few others are probably virtually top of the line in terms of manufacturing and engineering, but the real question is to what extent do each of these manufacturers SPEC the charger to be clean? I may not totally agree that there's no room for more circuitry in the Droid RAZR/MAXX than in, perhaps let's say the Galaxy SIII (see below), but the theory is still a very valid one, possibly more from a cost to manufacture perspective.

Samsung S III Motherboard (Back and Front Sides)

From above, you'll see Motorola manages to fit MORE componentry into their phone and does it on only ONE side of the board! Samsung fits LESS componentry and has to use BOTH sides to get even that much on it.

Many manufacturers don't make ALL the components themselves, in fact most don't. Often times they'll spec out the extra items such as supplies to another company and that company will make it to specs. If a manufacturer is very sensitive to the quality or accuracy to specs, they might opt to make it themselves instead, or they may leave the preliminary part of the power regulation to the third party manufacturer and preserve the final power filtration and regulation to their own labs, thereby cutting costs for manufacturing and still maintaining a quality power source.

Finally, even a high quality charger from one company may still cause problems with another. There are ALWAYS some inherent artifacts in the power that are virtually impossible to remove. The question is whether the frequency of the waveform is one that could cause interference with the circuitry and create harmonics that could cause trouble with any number of things, not the least of which is the screen capacitance and sensitivity. This, more than anything else is probably the most likely cause of the screen acting crazy, and is not necessarily "bad" so to speak, but perhaps a nuisance.

I still say "Stick with Stock" wherever possible.

OK, well let's see how this next training goes. I might suggest you boot to recovery and clear the cache first. Maybe even go to advanced and clear DALVIK.

Clearing the cache partition definitely did me no justice at all. I think im going to skip another round and just FDR. Will i still be on .215 upon completion?
