MattyP's .215 Leak Classroom

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. I know you can go back to .211 from the .214 leak and I am pretty certain that same process works with the .215 leak. I will look around to find the information.

FoxKat confirmed by being doing it himeself that you can fastboot from .215 back to .211. They have the downgrade package but that was only for going from .214 to .211 don't think that will work on .215.

I had a few issues that I needed to resolve so I did try the Razr Utility to move from.215 back to .211 and it worked for me, but I would say try that at your own risk. I knew I was taking a gamble and had several "back up plans" in case I failed!

Indeed, as far as fastbooting goes I would rather download and use RSD lite and the fastboot files themselves over that utility. Honestly it is just as easy if you take your time and do it right. He gave step by step instructions and links in his thread.

LOL I have had the day from hell ... problems with the rental car, my internet is down, I'm a day late even getting started now

So how IS your .215 going so far? LOL :p

.215 is going pretty good. I think i need to foxcat my battery, it has seemed not quite right since. Not bad, just a little strange like the first 20% dying to fast. I don't really want to do a FDR but i probably will. Otherwise, its fast, and i like chrome more than i thought i would! I wasn't having problems on .211 so I'm sure it will be hard for me to notice much difference.

FoxKat knows his battery business ... he is the master. And when I went to .215 I did TWO fdr's and wiped cache. I started all over with a clean slate. :)

And thanks, none of the problems were my fault, something was wrong with the rental car so I got an upgrade to a better car for the same price, but it just made me late leaving.

Well I'm glad you didn't follow the gps into a lake

Okay so im in the process of upgrading from stock ics... my phone was rooted prior to upgrading and i didnt unroot before upgrading because i wasnt aware i had to. Ive downloaded rootkeeper but i have no options to select in the app and only 2 of the 5 boxes are checked as follows
"Superuser app installed"
"/system supports root protection"

Does this mean i lost root access? If so, should i just follow course 1 instructions?

The only way to do it is on completely stock ... you would have to use Matt's utility version 1.8 to go back to stock .211 ... and then do the course to upgrade. You can still do the root and unroot like in the course from .211, or you can root after it's on .215 with Matt's 1.8 as well. But it has to be stock .211, and no ROM.

And I need to add that to the course requirements LOL :)

Did this last night and it worked like a charm. Thank you so much for the help! .215 seems to smooth and awesome battery life coming from a deodexed .211 build. I read somewhere that there were some known lag issues with deodexed roms, didn't realize how bad it was until it was gone with this return to stock and update.

With this 215 thing..do u have to root after or is that jst a choice?bare with me guys lol, still readin on this leak n most likely updating the version

Root is not required either before or after can just install plainly over non rooted phone and leave it that way.
