Maxx owners: do/have you sold android phones you used to use or keep them?

With very few exceptions, Android phones do not hold their value like iPhones do. Unless the Android device you're selling is relatively new and in high demand, you're not going to see the types of returns on them that you did with your iPhones.

Yeah, I sort of assumed this would be the case. Heh, I'm going to assume that, based on this, it's probably best to shoot for Craigslist buyers?

Oh wow do I remember the Voyager! horrible! Got a free upgrade to the enV touch which my husband is still rocking!
My list of phones is..
Droid (still have)
DX (now belongs to my 4yr old)
Thunderbolt (sold on CL for $325)
D3 (sold on CL for $300)
GNex (went through 3 replacements)
Rezound (got instead of GNex 4th replacement and still have it)
Razr Maxx (current phone)

I am now sitting on one last upgrade and holding on to it for as long as I can!

I do all my selling on craigslist and have never had any problems.

Couple questions, where do you sell? And did you sign a two year contract for the Maxx? If so, how will you get the HD?

I sell them on Craigslist or Android Forums. New phones are usually around $600 retail. I can get around $400 for them, put in another $200 for the new one I want. Its basically like getting it at new customer price, sometimes cheaper.

I keep them. I don't insure my phones, so the older ones serve as a backup in case I lose or damage my current phone.

Well, there's a presence I've not seen for a while! Glad to see you participating again. I'd like to see more of you on here! :hail:

Yes, I know I've been noticeably absent. Work, Boy Scouts with my son, and a busy life in general has kept me away in recent weeks, and that probably will continue for another month or so. Don't worry, I'll stop by when I can.

I may not have been around here much, but my (our) presence has been felt elsewhere. I went at a local VZW store yesterday to get my son his first phone. Not a smart phone, just a basic one. I overheard another sales rep getting ready to activate a Razr for someone else. When he went to the back to get it, I pulled him aside and told him "I realize that you're here to make your customer's experience an enjoyable one, but please note that Motorola's own instruction manual says the phone should be fully charged with power OFF prior to activation." He seemed a little stunned at first, and then said he never heard that before. He thanked me for the info, and then proceeded like I never mentioned it to him. Oh well, all we can do is try.

Okay, back to the original topic.......

for those who have sold on craigslist...do you only accept cash or what? and how do you know you're not getting conned?

an about getting another phone while still in a 2 year contract, do you have to pay that termination fee which is a couple hundred bucks, and pay for the non-subsidized price for the phone?

Comeback when ya can. :)

DROID RAZR MAXXIMIZED!!!! PREPARE TO BE VANQUISHED!!!

I only take cash. And I make it clear that an apology because they don't have every dollar I ask for is not acceptable because you will get those people who forgot $20 at home.

I honestly don't worry about the conning. I know its a risk but they're also taking a risk hoping we don't have some cheap phone with issues. I haven't run into any Craigslist issues with scam, as much as people complain about it. For those who have their ways of verifying $20 and $100 bills are legitimate, its worth verifying.

I also believe that if you buy the phone at retail price, it doesn't matter about a 2 year contract. From my experience, that's a lot of people's reasons behind buying phones on Craigslist in the first place -- to avoid breaking contract.

Did you have one of those brick phones? I would definitely rock one of those :P

Still got a Motorola brick and bag phone in the closet. Can't use them since they are analog, but keep them around as momentos.:D

I have my first Verizon phone from 2000, just an Audiovox I bought for a penny. The sales girl was cute, and got a couple dates out of the deal.
I also kept my 3rd phone, a StarTAC, my first introduction to Motorola phones, and I have purchased exclusively Motorola phones since. I kept my Droid and Droid X as well. I plan on keeping my RAZR when the time comes.

I've sold all my phones on ebay. I've bought phones there also. I've only had 2 problems, once got an iphone that was still active on the previous owners account so it went back, and once I sold a phone and git a bad review cause I didn't sell the battery with it (which was the way I listed it). If your going to sell your old phone just make sure you list the specifics.

Yep, cash only. Not taking a check LOL. Why would you have to pay a fee because you are buying a new phone? You could buy a new phone every month, they don't care, its just a full retail price.
